Box for 2006 Toyota 4 runner

Recommended Posts

I will not be competing in SPL contests, i just want LOUD bass (doesnt every basshead).

The sub i will be getting is a Fi BTL either a 12 or 15, unknown due to money, I think a ported box would be the best, but my buddy told me that bandpass boxes are better. He said a 6th order box would be good, i have no idea what a bandpass or 6th order box is. Are they louder for the daily user?

As stated in title, the car i currnetly have is a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, in it, i have mids and highs by pioneer, and they sound good.

Do a 15 I'm happy kinda with my dr 12 but I think I'm more of a 15 kinda guy. I had a band pass in my bmw and liked it more then the ported boxi have now. it didn't get as loud but I think it sounded better. Ill let some one else explain the bandpass and 6th order cuz I really don't know the diff. I'm just letting you know from my experience. Also iv been told its better to use two subs in a bandpass.

I would figure out how much room your willing to give up for the enclosure, then find your net volume, then see if the 15" or 12" would be best suited for the volume you got.

I would stick to a traditional ported enclosure, most people fuck something up when they do a 6th order or bandpass.

Definitely agree with Stefan, its much easier to design and build a standard L ported enclosure than a bandpass. Many times you will see people claiming that a certain type of enclosure will get much louder than another; however, unless you compete, there is not much benefit in designing and building a very intricate box. Also, allow me to persuade you to get the 15 inch BTL. If youre like me, you will never be satisfied so you might as well prepare for that and get the driver that will have more output.
