sub posts

Recommended Posts

so I was sitting here wondering something so i thought i would post a question.

first here is the sub a 15inch Nightshade v1 d1

now notice the terminals and how there is a hole on top of the terminals.

now are those holes used for banana plugs? like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-STINGER-SPT8503-DUAL-BANANA-PLUGS-1-PAIR-GOLD-/170579337433?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b75220d9

if not what are they for? and if they are does anyone use them?

I ask because lately with my new setup my subs are mounted backwards and accessing the one set of terminals is very very hard to do.

notice the sub on the right hand side well that one is very tight to get to lol! so I was wondering what are those holes for and can i use banana plugs in those holes or no! and does anyone use banana plugs?

thanks

Kenneth

The banana plugs can go on the side where the wire goes, which doesn't help in your case. As far as the bottom, not sure.

I'd be worried they'd rattle looose :ughdunno:

you know i never thought about putting banana plugs in the side lol! damn you are a smart cookie! and yes that does help me some because i cna get the wire over to that side it is putting in the 10awg that is hard. like i always get a good 80% in and then the other 20% will just frey out lol. but with a solid piece going into the hole that would work!

LMAO ya i always have an issue because my 10awg is just so big for that little tight hole lol! gg's lol! good times!

thanks though and i guess i could solder the ends of my wires also!

I just trim the ends a little and twist the wire to a point per say, never have any issues.

Not sure about soldering the ends, solder isn't that conductive compared to copper or cca wire.

10 gauge slide into mine with space to play... i use 8 gauge with some trimming on mine...

so 10 should fit with ease....

and depending on the size of the run even 12 gauge would be fine

funny thing is my old 10awg slid right in, then for some reason i purchased the knu 10awg wire which for some odd reason seems to be a bit bigger then 8awg. and yes i know they should slide right in but for some reason i have a hell of time.

at any rate just a little more info the amps powering the subs are 2-SAZ2500 currently, and they are a good 4ft long.

o well i need to screw around wiht this setup some more and go from there lol. thanks for the info guys and enjoy your night/week!
