All install dependent. What car do you have? Any extra batteries to support the amp? What's the box going to be tuned to? There are lots of variables when building/designing a system.

01 dodge stratus coupe. the box is gunna be 3.0 probably tuned to 34 htz. gunna put in a red top battery most likely. i will get an audio shop to custom make a box for me if they price is reasonable

The XL is more comparable to a BTL. The XL and the BTL are about the same in price too. I was actually looking between these two and ending up getting the BTL. IMO I like my BTLs sound a little better than the Level 3s I've heard, and I can only guess that the Level 3s sound better than the XL. The BTL destroys the lows like the Level 3, but when it came to the high end (40-60hz) range, the Level 3s really struggled with that where the BTL is having no problems. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the BTL has a little bit more motor force than the XL, or at least the Gen 2 did. Fi machines all of there parts in the USA, DC only imports and assembles in the USA. Also, I'd like Nick or Scott to chime in on this, but I've heard that DC's subs are PSI adaptions to Scotts old RE lines.

for the power on hand, i'd say BL for sure.

The XL has more potential as is comparable to a BTL.

I have heard the complete opposite about the XL vs Gen2 BTLs but.. of course we all know that one install to another.. things change and it's hard to compare subs like that.

The Level3 will definitely sound better than an XL will, hehe.

Now, in terms of how they are made.. it doesn't really matter as long as it does what it's suppose to do without any problems.

They do their own thing for competitors much like Sundown does options on their subs too for competitors.

Different companies focus on different things which doesn't necessarily make one company better than another, they just can't be compared apples to apples.

I wouldn't expect someone to ask is the JL w7 going to be louder than a Sundown SA-12 in a pure burp only scenario....

2 different companies, 2 different goals.

I do not know about motor force.. only get that answer from the company themself, but ther are MANY high power subs from many companies that are typically custom built..

Fi's new BTL- NSG, well we all know about that monster coming soon.

DC XL\Lvl5 with SPL motor or DC Lvl6

Cactus Sounds MKII

DDz

SoundStream XXX-15

Sundown's Monster... someday, hehe

IA Warden

So point is.. don't focus your sub just based on motor force.. Too much motor force and it will not have that flat of a response for daily as one would hope for.

So hands down, the BL wins in my opinion.

Im going to have to disagree with that statement. Both are great companies and neither of the companies technology is outdated or old.
