2 15s X or 2 12 DCONs?

Recommended Posts

Ok so Im debating and I cant decide.

Whether Xs or DCONs, each sub will be Single 4ohm so I can pair both and get a final load of 2 ohm (= 1000watts from my Sundown 2000D)

Yes, this will be an ~8 month temporary setup while in the meantime I upgrade the electricals on a soon-to-be new car that I will be getting etc. Since my final setup will consist of 2 18s, it will take some time to have the car "ready" and honestly, my single 12 is not cutting it for now. Specially when I just upgraded my front stage with a Boss Rev. 665 amp. The bass can barely be felt.

I dont know what are the advantages of going for the Fi X or the DCONs. All I can see is that the X have 2mm more of xmax but are 250rms while dcons are 300rms and 16mm xmax. Also, DCON is an SQ while Im not sure if the X is as well or in between SQ and SPL.

Any help is appreciated.

Interesting, didnt check the 187

But xmax is pretty low (13mm)

I think Ill stick to Fi or SSA which are the most Ive heard from.

The feedback from the DCON is amazing, everybody seems to be really happy. On the other side, with the Fi I get 15 inches of glory x2 :suicide-santa:

Any thoughts?

Btw my goal is to be loud, but keep quality. 90% I wont be using this for competition or anything like that. Just daily hard pounder.

Really can't go wrong with either driver. I have a DCON 10" and it is nothing short of amazing in sq and output imo. In a ported enclosure the DCON was very impressive on all types of music.

DCON ftw!

The larger X's have greater output potential due to cone surface. But as said above, it is a win win as both drivers are excellent and are both built buy hand to order in the USA.

Indeed, I agree.
