I went to Advanced Auto, their load test doesnt do ampers, 1st with car off all electric off:

advanced auto print out

battery test 12.82V

measured 1256 CCA

rated 758 CCA

Temp 21deg F

While stating:

starter voltage 11.74V

0.0A time

625mS

dipped to 10V

running:

Charging system test

no load 14.62V ---A

loaded 15.58V ---A

ripple 37mV

Went to O'Reilley's

Load test 74A

I have heard the load test is very inaccurate and unreliable, but I am also hearing Iraggi/Dom has a bad rep for reliability and notorious for regular factory alts with larger regulators.

That testing equipment is the equivalent of using butt dyno. Iraggi's shit is hit or miss. Most of the time it's miss, and he's doing nothing more than upgrading a stator. This is/was common practice, hence you used to/still do see so many people having failures or needing to spin the alt faster with a smaller pulley.

thats just not cool at all. I assume when I pay 2-3X the cost of a new factory alt, that it's going to be rewound and have bigger diodes and the whole works, is this why he is MIA? Not cool :(

DC Power FTW... :peepwall:

ya I got my 2nd alt from excessive amperage, 300A, but I dont want to install it till i know the iraggi pulls its weight so I dont blow them both

I had a choice of more power at idle, inbetween, or more peak. The smallest alt is rated 160A-200A at idle 220A peak, the biggest alt is rated 160A-180A at idle 300A peak. I chose 200A idle 220A peak.

I was idling. I should have gotten a minimum of 160A and up to 200A at idle.

Ive had Dominic Irragi on my Facebook since I started my research, he deleted it and started a new one. I added him, bet he doesnt accept! I sent yet another email last nite, we will see

Emailed him again last nite:

bad alt? good alt?‏

I just went to have my 160@idle 220 peak tested, it was load tested as 74A. It is rated 160-200A @ idle, 220A peak. Test no good? I want to make sure the Iraggi works as it should before adding a 2nd alt.

Thanks!

You do know that just because an alt has the capability to produce 200 amps doesn't mean it will always be at that current level. Nine times out of ten, the cheap load testers are a fixed load just used to verify the proper function of the alternator. If you want a true rating, you have to have the proper test bench.

Rumor has it Iraggi is no longer building or repairing his alts.

Rumor?

If you don't know for sure, please don't talk.

This is even way worse then misinformation.

To the OP= Those 'ALT TESTERS" can't test accuratly at all.

Iraggi even has a video on youtube where he shows over 1200amps worth of alts and they test out at lower then 100 amps, because 100 amps is the max that thing can read. ;)

And iraggi alt's aren't bad at all, nor do they break down fast.

DC Power is the only alt company i know that actually rates their idle output properly...

There's one reason for your low idle.. You need more rpms to get to idle.. which is sad but true.

Please don't talk? Sir you need to Relax! Tell me then as to why his vendor section has been removed from SMD and he no longer has an eBay store? How come various people cannot get ahold of him when they have problems? No return phone calls or emails. That tells me he's out of buisness.

You prove me wrong and I will retract my rumor statement.

Relax! If I had time I would post the link from SMD!

I do remember reading a good article on SMD too. Go search on there and check it out OP, it gives you some nice feedback as to why the Auto Parts tests are meaningless.

You need much more expensive equipment to add a proper load to get true results.

I have purchased that same wires from ebay... Didn't work out so well for me though... I was getting voltage drops... I wouldn't even use it as speaker wire because of how flimsy it was.... Hopefully it isn't the EXACT one I had/have sitting here cuz it was a waster of my $30 dollars... lol :suicide-santa:

If it's not a rumor, then don't say you think it's a rumor...

His vendor section is removed because he asked to, he was way to busy and had to take a break.

Maybe he is out of business maybe he is still on vacation or working behind the scenes.(he was talking about a new site a few months ago.)

So it could be possible that he is out of business but if you(or me) don't know then just don't write it :)

If he is working behind the scenes or taking a break he should at least let people know that. To just up and dissappear and not return phone calls or emails on customers who have problems is just poor buisness practices.

I have never said he didn't have crappy CS. :) (because he does)

His vendor status was removed because he stopped answering people's calls, emails, threads, and pms. Steve couldn't even get a hold of him. The only alt company that left was DC Power. Hence why they are here now. :)
