help on sub choice!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Honestly... with the price of 2 upgraded xs or kinetic batts, u could get a h/o alt... my. 02

i have one battery already for free. the guy i bought the 9500's from gave me one that he had. he said the boat batteries from wal-mart work better than optima batteries and cost alot less. he had 2 of these walmart batteries and his lights barley dimmed and he had 2500 TRUE watts being drawn. he had stock alt. and no big 3.

Barely dimming is still dimming lol. Theres no excuse for somebody who is running a 2500 watt setup to not have the big 3 done. That is just careless and lazy. In addition, boat batteries are certainly not made for audio. Batteries specific to audio are made to for the high current draw so they will better suit your needs. Last thing, there is no use in gettin a shitload of batteries if your stock alt will not keep up.

H.O. alt's are expensive this is true, trust me i know first hand. Last month i went looking for the biggest one that would still bolt on to my car, called everyone, Ohio Generator(sales guy was very nice and took his time explaining to me what i need) they dident make one big enough for what i needed so he sent me to Matt at Mechman, he was very knowledgeable and explained the benefits of running 14v batts vs 12v so i think the 275 amp Mechman i choose was about 400 plus extra for the attached voltage regulator. the batts were about 250 each and because i bought 5 of them he pretty much covered shipping for me, so thats the route i took

The MOST IMPORTANT part of your electrical system for running the power you need would be a good quality high output alternator ! (im pretty sure everyone can agree on that)

Buying lots of batts does nothing if you cannot charge them properly

I would call Mechman (ask for Matt) and see what they can do for you also, excessive amperage alts, DC power (which was a nightmare for me trying to contact them back and forth) and Ohio generator but be prepared to spend sum cash because like most everything you def pay for what you get. your pretty much going to shell out at least $300.00 any way you go,but this is the only way.

Just be VERY careful about knockoff cheap alternators and always request paperwork or videos so they can prove what they say.
