I love this amp, but there are two questions i have about it. I have it hooked up to a 15in dayton audio reference series RF 15", and this sub is 500w rms mind you, it is hooked up 4 ohms briged, for 2100w rms, and it just seems like it should have more power than it does. It gets really loud, and gets the sub warm if i let it, (only takes about 20-40secs full power, then it smells a little), but it just seems like that if it was doing rated power, the sub would just bottom out and blow in a matter of seconds, it is in too small of a box(about 2-3 cu ft, it needs 8-10 per sub, might be why it dont bottom out) do you guys think im getting full power out of this amp?? and if i am, do you think it will be stable at 2ohms briged, im getting another 15in dayton. some good car audio amps that are rated stable at 1ohm are fine at .5ohms, so i figure crown is supposed to be one of the best, maybe it will to..

okay pardon me but i am a bit lost let me see if i can tally all the info up!

amp is rated for 2100rms at 4ohm

sub is some dayton sub rated for 500rms

your sub wants 8cubics and you are giving it 2-3cubics

questions

is this home audio

what coil config is your sub, example like D2 or D4 or D1

if it wants 8cubics why are you chocking it out with 2-3cubics?

can you please share some links of the equipment in question?

also if your sub gets warm after 20-30seconds you are clipping the hell out of the amp!

if you turn your gain down and it bottoms out you need to turn it down some more!

the amp has clip indicators on it and they dont light up at all when the sub gets warm... i keep a close eye on it... i had the box already and im buying a 2nd 15 in a month or 2 so i just threw it in the box temporarily, and its a single vc 4ohm sub.

this is where i bought the amp.. http://www.proaudiostar.com/crown-xls-2000-drivecore-stereo-power-amp.html

i c it is a 2channel amp i believe! interesting and I like the display screen.

someone once told me to never believe the clip indicating light! unless you have an oscope hooked up to it you can never truly know if it is clipping or not.

okay now talk to me about this temp box you have?

how big is the temp box like what are the dimensions of this box

also what does the dayton site recommend you use for this sub aka box size!

also what are your settings on your amp? all of them.

the box is small, it is like 18x18x18, a cube. loud though, and my amp is set to bridge mono on lowpass mode crossed as 59hz. the dayton site has no box dementions, and im pretty shure the clip indicator is good because i hear no audible distortion untill the clip indicator is pretty much solid. under that its very clean.

You'd be lucky to hear 10% distortion on a sub and no the clip indicators aren't good. So far you are heading for disaster if you keep on your route. On top of that it is a clever way to make a nice sounding sub sound like hell. :( Try a new box and be careful with it.
