strange sound on my N2

Recommended Posts

I had an Xcon in a 3.1 FT3 ported box tuned to 32 Hz.

I sold the sub and had one to wait for my btl, an L7 that I put in the same box.

Understand ?

The btl is in a new box (2,1 ft3 @ 32 hz).

The settings seem good now. And this btl sounds better and better !

I am starting to love it.

2 btl 15" will be ordered next week for another build.

No dude..it's called a statement...and you are reading waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far into it.

I do not like green eggs and ham...does that mean green eggs and ham is bad? No. Sam I am loved it. I however, do not like green eggs and ham. I like blue eggs and ham.

get it?

I get it.

But my native language isn't english, that's why i took it wrong. :)

Ok guys,

After some testings, I know (or I think I know) what happened.

The bad noise I was hearing is coming from the song itself !

I played all I kind of songs, I even played all the test tones from 25 to 60 Hz I downloaded on the ssa technical menu. No problem at all, even with the gain high, oreven too high !!!

But when I play this particular Mike Jones song (n°2 on the album with "houston oilers") it makes very bad noises. I'm sure this particular recording is bad, or the mp3 compression was badly done. Even at lower volume it's audible on that song.

I tried to set the gain on the amp with the test tones, but I could not find a point where the sub was starting to play bad. It seems to take it all.

My next try will be with a good DMM.

For now, I keep the gain quite low. But my car has never been shaked like that. I could never imagine a BTL would play soooooooo looooooow !!!

Thanks a lot Fi, and sorry for this topic, but I needed to know what to do !

BTW, I turnt off the head unit (Pioneer p88rs II) internal amplifier. Do you think it's a good thing to do ? Would it be better to turn it on, so the amplifier would receive a more powerful signal ? I'd like to try that.

No the amplifier in that head unit is only for the output leads to like door speakers. If you are running RCA's that does not amplify that signal...
