good sub for the money ?

Recommended Posts

It'll more than likely be pretty boomy, I know my Polk sub that way similar to that was...to the point of annoying. If you want it for gaming, where you'll be hearing explosions and such, I'd look elsewhere, or just build your own.

if i were you...... i would build my own.... you could buy a 240 watt plate amp for 99.00 ........... http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-805 ...... then you could buy a 10 or 12 inch SSA Dcon for 125.00 or 115.00 ... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/categories/Sub-Woofers/SoundSolutionsAudio/ and i bet it would sound alot better then any of them you would buy for this price... it is easy enough to buid a box for one.. i built mine with 2 12" Dcons and it is unreal how good it sounds for the price.... you can allso buy a cabinet... http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=603 ... and it is great to be able to say I built it

it is pretty easy to build a box.... pick what sub you want and figure out if you want it sealed or ported.. most manufactures say if there sub is better in a sealed or ported enclosure.. then they will say how big of a box... SSA is really good at telling you Enclosure Recommendations: see below.. then if you go to like re box calculator you can change the numbers that are in red and it will calculate tthe box size and tell you how box volume.. and all the info you need.. it will even give you a cut list and tell you what size to cut each piece.. you can also google anything you need to know.. there are tons of sites with pictures and articls

re box calculator http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html

this is for a 12" Dcon

Enclosure Recommendations:

Sealed: .90 cu.ft.

Sealed: 1.20 cu.ft. optimal

Ported: 1.75 cu.ft. @ 28-33 hz

Ported: 2.25 cu.ft. @ 28-33hz opt.

Sub Outside Dia.: 12.500

Cut Inside Dia.: 11.150

Mounting depth: 6.500

Displacement: 0.14 ft^
