Hello SSA!

Recommended Posts

Hello all SSA junkies! I'm new to SSA, but not to audio. My name's Mark, and I'm from Anchorage Alaska. I've got a 2000 Ford F-150 Lightning that I'm building a system for. I've been collecting bits and pieces, both new and used. Here's the basics of what's going in;

MTX Thunderform box, 1.7 cu ft

Q-forms kick panels, will be custom enclosed with fiberglass.

Two sets of Hertz HSK165's. One mid placed in door, other in kick panel. Both tweets in kick panels.

Crescendo Audio 1000C4 for the front stage

Kicker IX1000.1 for the subs

Still debating on the subs, but I'm leaning towards some Sundown SA-10's. I'd really like the new SSA Icon 10 when it's released, but I'm sure that it will be too much sub for the amp that I have to run em with at the moment.

I've got my wiring all put together, but still unsure about the rest of my electical. For an alternator I'm most likely going to get one of the DC Power alternators. I'll probably be adding a second battery as well. This is the highest powered system I've ever run, at approximately 1600W total RMS between the components and subs, it's not the highest powered system out there, but still beyond what I've done historically. Any advice on electrical, or any other part of the setup is appreciated!

Welcome, as for the Icon, I don't think we will be changing the ratting.

That Kicker amp, the IX1000.1, I got on a heck of a deal I couldnt pass up. I also liked it because it is small enough to mount under my seat in my truck. However, the downside is this, it's rated at 1000W RMS at 2 ohms at 14.4v. The box I have I have to use 2 subs in. So, basically if I run two Icon 10 D2's, I'd only be supplying them with about 450W RMS roughly. How will that effect the subs?

I could use the Dcon, but that's a bit underrated for the power I'm going to put out.

The Icon would honestly be my first choice because I love the sub and it gives me lot of room to grow with a new amp. The amp I currently have is more suited to the Sundowns as they are rated at 600W RMS. I'd still be underpowering them as well, but it's hard to have the best of everything when I bargain shopped for most of my stuff.

welcome sir! and nice choices for equipment... How's the weather over there?

Thank you, and thanks...I hope the equipment all plays nicely together. It's been balls cold the past month, no snowfall though. Here in Anchorage it had been -4 to -12 F consistently. It's supposed to be warming up soon though, which means snow, which is great cause I'm itchin to get out and snowboard!

Oh yea, forgot to mention the deck I'm running. Since the truck is sort of a show truck, i wanted to be able to play promo DVD's on a screen. I got a great deal on a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD H/U that I couldnt pass up. I know it's not great, but it should suit my needs as my overall goal isnt SPL or SQ. I just wanted a quality system that sounds good. I hope it does at least that for me.
