Do you have space for a larger enclosure?

Are you running ported or sealed now? Will the icons be ported or sealed? I'm guessing this is a sealed 18 vs 2-12's ported question?

Ouch, under 6 and ported? You must be losing some bottom end and efficiency. The new Icon's are a little bit out yet, just a heads up.

Two 12s in an optimal box is better than one 18 in a small box

You sure you don't wanna put 3 18" Xcons in your trunk instead?? :peepwall:

Nobody should ever run an 18" sub ported in a typical trunk unless you have over 10-14cubes gross to play with.

Just because the box fit in the trunk doesnt mean much...

The box is not large enough for a low tuned daily setup which lowers efficiency and physical capability of playing very low and choking the output by placing it in a trunk will also lower efficiency.

let me guess... playing music tuned low may sound loud.. but that's pretty mcuh all it is? It may shake the car somewhat.. the shake you feel is more in your back than the car itself?

You need some sub(s) that require smaller volume or a setup that excels in what space you currently have.

Luckily, you did choose 2 12s which typically use 5cuft net very effectively.

If you are like some of these guys and want to tune below 32hz.. you may want to run a single 15 in 5cubes net or little bigger if possible for the car shattering lows.

Please note the power you are running because you may have to use a slightly smaller port to prevent the possibility of the sub from bottoming out with 2kw if using a 15 in that large of box.

Seal it, I bet you'd be surprised.

Wish I could fit an 18" in my car without having to face it up towards the rear deck... I'd love to have an 18" pumping lows into my passengers! :morepower1:

For reference charge, I actually have a 12" Icon in my car running sealed, according to everyone so far I am making a mistake not going ported/vented... Anywho, I love it. Set my SSF to 15Hz out of paranoia and allow my sub to crossover to 80Hz... Sounds amazing with my current front, although I've already purchased a new amp for the front stage and looking to change out the drivers soon... Oh, I had to deaden the shyt out of my car trunk because of it though... Cost me like $75 total after all said and one IIRC....lol .. Not too shabby

Sealing is a good option... The cheapest alternative to test to see if you like it.

I know what you mean i was so into the 18 that i didnt think of the box size lol..Now im stuck with 2 audioque 2200d amps and 1 18 inch xcon,im thinking of purchasing one more 18 inch and walling my car off lol... :dancing:

Don't do a wall, too many times I've seen people not realize how much they like having some cargo.... Anyway, what config did you get your Xcon in? D1 or D2?

D2 would allow you to run the AQ2200 at it's full output... Then you could sell lil' old me your second one for cheap since I'm running with a baby amp... :morepower1: needed in my setup... Pwetty pwease???

Well then you should have enough headroom/wattage to run one AQ2200 @ 1Ohm and be good to go... How do you have the amps setup now?

Get d2 coils, strap the amps together and wire them in series/parallel for a final 2ohm load

It seems like youre not acknowledging all the guys telling you to try and seal off your box before you buy new subs. I understand the desire to always have more subs but, before you spend your money, you should really give this a shot.
