Looks like a good way of getting the wire through the firewall. Poke through an existing rubber grommet, get the thin wire through, connect to the thick wire and pull it in.

Yeah, same basic method as fishing wire through a wall; we do it all the time, with actual fishing line. Works great

I have a very long screwdriver, some leftover wiring and it works like a charm.

Reminds me of a kid who brought a car to me with amp overheat problems. His (actually quite good) 4 gauge wire was too short for both the power and the ground so he used some 18 gauge speaker wire to finish the run from each to the terminals on the amp, at least 3 feet for each.

Oh, why is it some people can only learn the hard way.

How's the wire supposed to stay in the larger gauge cable? Glue, tape or a miracle?

Cant really see it but if its fishing it through, its usually taped on to hold it in place.

The worst part of it is, if he didn't put any fuses in anywhere (and judging by that move i doubt there are), it could/would actually work like that.

It looks as if he cut the sheath and all the strands except for the ones left in the butt connector.

It looks like he pulled new through the firewall.

He is just pulling the wiring thru the firewall.

This is not permanent.

Just changing out old wire.

I looked back at the pics again.

It looks as if he cut the sheath and all the strands except for the ones left in the butt connector.

It looks like he pulled new through the firewall.

It took a while, huh ?

One picture shows the connection in the engine compartment, the next one shows it inside the car. Logically, that means he just fished the new wire using the old wire..
