Couple Questions about...

Recommended Posts

Deciding between a 15" SI Mag D2 and a 18" RE SX. Opinions on both would be greatly appreciated.

WHich one has better SQ, SPL, which one gets louder, etc.

And my other question is, is the 15" SI Mag reliable for a daily driven ride? Will it play for me at least a year without requiring me to recone or replace something? And is it still durable enough to take to competitions a couple weekends a year?

And this will be going into a 2003 Ford Focus 2 Door Hatchback, so I'm pretty sure it will pound. :slayer::rockwoot:

And I'm sorry if this is a repost, I didn't see a search feature. Oh, and great collection of smilies :lol2::woot:

The Magnum will excell in SQ.

The SX will excell in SPL mainly because its larger and isnt geared toward SQ

People use the Mags for DD all the time.

Some have used them for competition use.

Our smilies are the best

What Supa C said. :) (and yes, SoundSolutions' smilies are the best)

Unless you purposefully beat the driver to death you won't have any problems with our build. If an SX/XXX can hold up, ours will too - guaranteed. :D :D

I wouldn't go that far. We all know just because it's larger doesn't MEAN it WILL be louder. May have more POTENTIAL for increased displacement, but that doesn't always add up to loudness. Then again, given a correct application, it could also excel in the sound quality department.

Now, the Mag is a very capable driver in both aspects. It is an excellent all around driver. It will sound great and can easily get loud or vice-versa.

It is a very durable driver as long as you don't abuse it. That is the case with anything though. Don't go throwing it in a 5 cubic foot vented enclosure tuned to 40 Hz and throwing 20Hz tones on it all day at full power. Practice caution and you'll be golden at quite a few power levels.

With your particular ride and the sheer size of the drivers in question, I really don't see any foreseeable problems getting absurdly loud even with lower power levels.

For the performance at it's price level, I haven't been able to find another driver to satisfy me like a Mag. Hell, I got rid of an XXX, Brahma, and W7 for mine.
