Need Help Building A speaker box

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble designing a box for the two Dreadnauts I'm getting in April. I don't know if I should have both of them in the same box or have two so they take up less space? I would like to have them in separate box's that are taller and narrow so I can still put stuff in the back of the suv. But when I try to look up the Recommended Enclosure I don't understand it. if someone could give me some pointers I would be thankful. I have never made a box before so this all new to me I will put all specs I have on the subs.

Recommended Enclosure

Vented (Net) Port Specs Port Disp. Woofer Disp.

2.00 cu.ft. 25 sq.” X 16” L .23 cu.ft. .25 cu.ft.

Speaker Specs.

Voice Coil (Ohms) 2 x 2

Fs (Hz.) 36

Vas (Liters) 23.8

Qts .40

SPL (1W/1M) 86db

Mounting Depth (inches) 7

Hole Diameter(inches) 11 3/16

Speaker Displacement (cuft.) .25

The net vol. is the final internal volume of the enclosure after the port disp, sub disp, and the material disp. are subtracted. The port specs refer to the surface displacement (SD) of the port opening (Or effective surface area=SD) and the length at which the port should measure down the center. What program are you using to get these numbers?

These numbers are what the Manufacturer gave me for these subs. Is there any pros to haveing both subs in the same box?

No audible benifit to have them in the same enclosure vs seperate. You would need to get different specs for your enclosure though if you are planning on running them together.

You usaully can't go wrong following the manufactors recomendations, as they know their product best.

So I don't think when I get home I'm going to have time to build this box. Is there any well know companies that do custom subwoofer boxes?
