They're the same unless my mind is playing tricks on me.. but i would say option 2 because it uses less wire.

Go off this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=22#results

This is the same as option #1. RF wiring wizard recommends option one as well.

My question is why is option #1 better than #2. #1 utilizes one negative and positive directly wire from the amplifier to opposite voice coils. Where as #2 utilizes one negative and positive wire from the amplifier wired to the same voice coil.

Both pictures are the same, #2 is just requires longer wire for the positive terminal. There is no best since they are the same.

Did you not notice that each picture is basically the same thing, the wiring configuration and ohm load does not change between the two?

Yes. I was just wondering if the negative and positive leads going from the amplifier to one negative and one positive on opposite vc is better than connecting the leads to the same vc. I am having a difficult time explaining it that is why I posted pictures.

Thanks for the replies. I always wired as #2 but I am recently seeing #1 as a popular wiring method.

If you use sufficent gauge wire, there will be no difference.

If you use some B/S Wall Mart 18 gauge zip-cord, you might be able to measure, let alone hear a difference.....
