Couple of questions about 2005' XXX recone.

Recommended Posts

I am about to order a recone for one of my 2005' XXXs and had a few questions about the recone itself. I know you have reconed alot of these woofers over the years and was wondering if you change the recone composition at all(besides your cone) when compared to the stock XXX composition?

Will the woofer still have it's 1500-1600rms capability? Will the recommended enclosure change at all?

I was able to effectively salvage the original XXX full face dust cap. Can it be re-used with your recone?

In addition to the woofer I am about to recone, I received another misaligned 2005' XXX motor in the purchase. Do you have the ability to re-align the motor and would you be willing to do so?

Thanks a bunch Scott,

Kevin

You can not put a different length coil in there, it has to be a very specific length and has to be set up properly.

The only real upgrades we have is the integrated tinsel leads that are inside of the spider pack.

It is $30 to realign a motor plus shipping both ways.

Ahh. Very nice. $30 is way more resonable than I thought it would be.

So you will stick to the dual spider setup, progressive roll?

If I send you the motor and just have you recone it at the same time as the realignment, will their be an additional cost for recone labor?

Should I send the original dust cap along with the woofer?

Thing is the 2nd woofer is not going to match because we can not put registered trademarks of other companies on a sub...

I don't need them to match. I have a 18'' XXX right now and bought two blown 15''s recently. I want to recone one to a 15''(so i'll just order that one from you guys) and I'll have the one that is being realigned built into a 10'' or 12''.

I don't need it to say XXX on it by any means. I would like the full-face dish cone cap instead of the standard "boob-dustcap", but if that is not possible I completely understand.

Sure no problem there, just wanted you to understand that we can't put a logo on it unless it is ours.

We definitely won't do a 10.

12, 15, and 18 is no issue.

But I should expect the rms handling and tech specs to stay close to how the came from RE, or will they be changed up a bit?

Well..

Scott owned RE, he designed and built the original XXX.

There's no reason why it would take a step back nearly 6 years later :)

I think it is great you guys still service these drivers.

They are on top of my all time list, I still am amazed every day when I listen to my set of 18s David put together for me 6 years ago......

No doubt! I am just wondering if I need to account for any different characteristics when modeling up a box for a 12''.

Same here. I got my hands on my first 2005' XXX about a year ago and have since bought 3 more in need of service.

XXX snowman? I think so....

Here is the shifted motor. It is actualy the bottom/pole piece that shifted.

Here is my 05' XXX 18'' sealed in my integra, 4.5cubes on 1800rms(more like 1300-1500 with rise). Did a 143.8db sealed up on the TL but sounds like my definition of 150. Moves a hell of a lot of air and sounds damn good with minimal distortion.
