Hey I'm new and have some questions

Recommended Posts

ok went outside and braved the 20degree weather in my boxers to get the box lol.. i forgot how heavy the damn thing was with the amp on it and the sub in it.. I would say it weighs close to 220 pounds..

Any way. I will take some pics real quick and get them up

Also with the crossfire vr602 being a 2 channel amp, what kind of wattage is it putting out bridged?

110 kg's?

THat's a really heavy and subwoofer...

Inside the box, the port measures:

13 1/4" deep

and is the height of the box

subwoofersales001.jpg

You can see what i Mean by the port is the height of the box by this picture

Does your port curve at the end, like an "L" or is it straight back and then stops?

If it just stops and your saying the length is 13 1/8" and your box volume is around 4cubes, then your box is tuned somewhere around 41hz

the port wall pretty much just goes back and ends 13 1/8" deep inside the box.

Then your enclosure is tuned around 41hz, which isn't surprising for a prefab...

That will still be ok for now for the ssd 15 correct?

Yep. Just turn your ssf up to around 38hz on your amplifier.

Ok last 3 questions.

#1 What ohm should I get on the ssd 15 dual 1 or Dual 2

#2 on the vr 602 how can i tell where 38 hz is?

#3 How will i wire this when i get the sub in?

I wouldnt put SSD's in an enclosure tuned to 41hz thats not a good recommendation for music, but to each its own. Unless your trying to set your enclosure a few hertz lower than your car's peak frequency for competitions. Get a box built for the sub or make one yourself, that will be your best option to get your sub to perform well and they way you like it.

This will just be a temporary setup until i build a new box and get a new amp. I just want to make sure it will be safe for the sub until then

Are you planning on getting another driver in the future?

Is the crossfire vr602 a temp amp or permanent amp? Is the crossfire amp 1ohm or 2ohm stable? If your getting a newer amp, is it 1ohm or 2ohm stable?

And what do you mean by "wire this" How do you connect the driver to the amp?

Get a D2 subwoofer since you said your current amplifier is a 2 channel amp. Wire the sub to 4 ohms like the picture below:

1_2ohm_dvc_4ohm.gif

Most 2 channel amplifiers are only bridgeable down to 4 ohms.

the vr602 is a temp. amp and not sure what it's stability is. in the future i plan to get a sundown 1200d,, and as for the wiring, the last time a bought a sub (memphis m3 15) the car audio shop had it wired weird since it was a dvc

What Jay-cee is suggesting is correct about 40hz tuning for a daily box = bad idea. Tuning that high is for fart boxes. But as you stated this is just temp. As long as your ssf is set correctly then you can at least use the box for the time being (may not be great but hey)

Thank you, this is what i was talking about as to is was wired weird

As Jay-cee also said, get a dual 2 ohm driver and wire it as the picture is. Then when you get your 1200d you can rewire the sub down to 1ohm...

I think bromo does free enclosure designs. or did heh :P

What vehicle is this going in? What dimensions do you have to work with? There's several driver and port placement combinations, depending on your vehicle one may work better then another.

Well until you take measurements for someone to provide a design for you, we cant help you with an enclosure.
