Suitable SSD12 Enclosure

Recommended Posts

Just got a question, trying to find a suitable enclosure that would fit in the trunk of my charger and would be good for 2 SSD12 subs. Would this one work??

http://www.zenclosures.com/Dodge_Charger_Subwoofer_Box_p/chargerrecessface.htm

Mounting depth - 9.00"

Mounting hole - 9 1/8" for 10" subs & 11 1/8" for 12" subs (Adjustable by request)

Total volume of airspace - 2.46ft^3 Adjustable by request (we can only reduce the airspace)

Airspace per chamber - 1.23ft^3

Invert the subs if you get that box, but I recommend building a custom ported that is a little bigger. The SSDs are very musical ported!

what do you mean invert? Sorry I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to this stuff.

You think a ported enclosure would be better?

By inverting he means instead of the motor going in the box first and being inside the box... you mount the sub the other way where the top of the cone is in the box and the motor is showing.

Ported enclosures would usually have more output, but the way it sounds between sealed/ ported is up to you. people have different preferences.

I say invert them for the sake of saving displacement in the sealed box and bc all Fi woofers have sexy magnets :)

If you wanted to go ported its up to you, if you listen to any deep bass you may want to, as the low end will be significantly more pronounced. The SSDs do well sealed, however, so it will sound good regardless. I've found once you go ported you don't go back
