Goldwood Speakers

Recommended Posts

I want to upgrade my front stage in my Durango. I was to fiberglass my doors to hold a woofer (maybe 7-8"), midbass (4-5"), and tweeter. Looking at the Goldwood brand? Any other suggestions? This will be an active setup with a seperate amp to power each different set of speakers (1 for woofers, 1 for midbass, 1 for tweeters)

No experience but they are price friendly. May want to search a little on Madisound as well as Parts Express for raw drivers.

Yeah I was looking at Parts Express at different brands. It looks like I could get my whole front stage for under $200! if I go with Goldwood.

Goldwood speakers are a fairly generic brand. I've used them to repair/replace some drivers in house speakers for myself and a few friends and they do a pretty decent job. I'm not sure how much abuse they can take, and they're not the best at accurate music reproduction but they're not half bad either. If I was going to look into building a set for my vehicle, I'd look into a different brand though. Madisound has a brand named Silver Flute which has peaked my interest, especially after SMGREEN20 has said they're comparable to the Hybrid Audio L6 mids which says alot to me about the quality of their musical reproduction and they're priced very similarly to the Goldwood stuff at the Madisound store.

Depends on your goals, processing, and what your ears require. They make some decent stuff, some garbage, and some in between.

Agreed. At the price point for their "best" drivers, you can have even better drivers from Dayton, Peerless, Scan, Seas, etc.

The Silver Flute comment disappoints me. I did not find their drivers very good at all. I tried them when they first came out several years ago, and if they are comparable to the Hybrid drivers, then the Hybrid drivers are over-priced junk in my opinion.

I would look into the P/E reference line before the Goldwoods. The price is higher, but would be worth it.

Also, look into all the Tympany buyouts P/E has been pushing. More than likely better than the Goldwoods.

I have also used Goldwoods, in fact alot of them. They have always worked well for the price, but just keep in mind the prices...

If you really want to look into some budget drivers, check out Zaph Audio. He has reviewed tons of drivers, many very cheap, and can give you honest reviews and measurements....
