Trying to get a SQ setup going..i think

Ok I've had subs before but nothing too fancy just some 12" kicker cvxs in a ported box and running a 1200W (i think) MTX amp. Well i sold that and now I want something new. I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra and don't care about trunk space so if the subs take up the whole trunk so be it. The thing is my budget is $1000 and I don't want to upgrade my electrical or get very technical with my system. I listen to mainly electronic music (trance, house, etc..) and rap/hip hop once in a while. Now i've read here that if your going for a SQ setup your not going for loud. I understand this, but since I do listen to rap/hip hop does this mean I am not going to be able to enjoy the lows of this type of music? How loud will SQ subs get? I want my bass to be as clean and clear as possible and am not trying to just rattle the neighborhood but at the same time I do want my bass to get loud inside my car when I want it to. I'm not trying to impress anyone outside of the car or win any competitions I just want to be able to play my music with some extra bass without it overpowering the music. I like my bass to have a punch to it and be crisp and I do hear a lot of people with two 15"s that just rattle everything and thats not what I want. So does this sound like a SQ system that I am going for? I was looking at the Fi Qs but that's only because I assumed I was going for a SQ sub. Now once I get that established, what type of subs do you think would be best? 3 10"s, 2 12"s, 1 12", 1 15"? And what about ported vs sealed? Sorry for the book I just wrote here but I am pretty noobish when it comes to this and I don't want to just waste 1k on a system and be disappointed by it. Thanks for any help and advice you guys have. Oh and by the way, I already have aftermarket (Alpine) speakers and the wiring for the subs so all I really need is new subs, an amp (please suggest one) and a new head unit.

Thank you! Now what kind of amp do you think I would need to power those? And the Q's have quite a few special configurations. Would any of those benefit me or is that for a more technical set up. I'm talking about the spider, cooling, P chamfer, High QTS, Heat Ring, etc.. And what about the OHM? I don't really know much about specs so am I going single or dual?

The Q's are rated for 1000 watts RMS, however you can put whatever amplifier you would like on them. Do you have any electrical upgrades? If you want to run their rated power, 2,000 watts will require a supportive electrical, a simple 1Kw amplifier supporting both Q's would work beautifully, and normally only require an upgraded front battery, I recommend XS Power.

For the options, if you want to tun sealed the HighQTS works best, you won't need the extra spider it's for more mechanical power handling, the other upgrades depend on what amplifier you would like to use

Once again thank you for all the help. So I have nothing upgraded electrically yet but I wouldn't have a problem with upgrading the front battery. Now i looked up the XS Power and there are quite a few different ones so could you help me pick one out? And which amp and specs would you recommend for my situation? I can go a little over my budget up to about $1500 but I just want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff. I'd like to get as much power as I can without having to spend too much on electrical upgrades so how much more juice can I get with just a battery upgrade?

To be honest I am not sure. I will have to look that up. To keep things simple however, lets say that I keep the current battery. What type of amp/specs would you recommend? And if I did spend $200-$300 on a battery upgrade, would the amp/specs be drastically different? If so, what amp/specs would you recommend with a battery upgrade in that type of price range?

Well it's difficult for a stock battery to sustain the vehicle and the amplifiers, you have two options, upgrade your stock abttery to the largest that will fit, or wire a second battery into the electrical system in the rear of the vehicle by the amplifier, personally I'd rather have one in the rear, because you can always go larger if needed. You can get a Sundown Audio SAX-1200.D for $375, the woofers would be about $500, $30 for some MDF to build an enclosure or more to have someone build you one, wiring and cables will be another $100, and another $100-$200 for a good HU, that leaves about $300 for a battery, I would put a D975 in the back, it's about $200.

That sounds perfect. That's what I will probably do then. Now the only thing I need to know now is what options to put on the subs. (Dual 1 or 2 ohm, cooling, P chamfer, heat ring)

With that amplifier, get D1 coils, that's all you need. If you want to increase resale value get the cooling and heat ring put on

You can probably better satisfy your goals with subs other than the Q and it certainly doesn't make sense to just decide to go with 2kw on the subs especially if you're going with a sealed enclosure. You'd probably be better served with a pair of more efficient 15s and around 1kw. That saves you the trouble of massive electrical upgrades to support power you really don't need.
