A couple enclosures I'm working on.

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a pair of old school JL 12W3s mainly because they have been sitting in my basement for 10 years and I'm sick of looking at them.

2 cubes each tuned to about 31hz or so. I will be using 4" areo ports also.

Got started on them tonight.

Looking good!!! You are a busy guy!

Thats an understatement. I'm a single father just to add to my work load. Luckily I'm a workoholic though.

Got a little more done tonight.

Just have the top panel to install on this one.

I use lots of screws and wood glue.

I also do a very shallow counter bore on the back side of the panels to clean up the hole after drilling it and to prevent wood shavings from keeping the boards from drawing tight to each other.

I had a pair of those about 10 years ago and loved them. Good luck on the build.

We had 3 of these in my brothers car way back. They were pretty loud and that was with a sealed box.

What are these going in, and what are the plans for covering??

I'm putting them in a PT Cruiser. My plan is to try a single enclosure first and see how well it does. I'm trying to cut down on the amount of watts needed to get adequate sub bass. I had a 10" Fi SSD in there but the charging system can't hang with the draw of the 800 watts it needed. Probably just going to clean up the edges and roll on some rustoleum flat black. It's not a car that ever gets displayed so I'm going for quick and easy, I have bigger fish to fry than this project.

Thanks.

Well I've gone about as far as I can without having the ports. Hopefully they will get here before the weekend.

Just need to put the top on one and the bottom on the other.

Ports came today so I put some more time in on them tonight.

I silicon sealed the corners then put the last panels on and went through the sub opening to seal those panels.

Trimmed the port to length and glued it all together.

One enclosure almost done. I'm going to do a spacer for the port since it's only about an inch from the bottom. I also need to put the terminal posts in it still.

I ended up having to put a 90 in the port to get the clearance needed between the port and the bottom of the enclosure.

Just need to get some parts for making the terminal posts and wire it up for a test run.

Almost done with these. I just need to pick up the parts for the terminals tomorrow and they will be ready to go.

I changed the port location on the second enclosure to move the port opening further from the side panel. I'm pretty sure I'm only going to use one of these so I'm not worried about them not matching.
