First time buying a sub... Need some help here.

Recommended Posts

Alright so i have been thinking of buying an 10" FI Q sub and i am quite positive that its what i want. But the only downside is that i have no idea about the size of the amp that would be a good size for this, and also the right gauge wire.. my cousin is going to help me with installation, but first i would like some suggestions for wiring and amps. So if someone could help me out that would be great.. thanks

Expect to spend around ~$100 on wiring for your amp.

Weldingsupply.com has great cable and it doesn't cost extra for "pixie dust car audio".

And then you'll need a fuse, fuseholder, and small wire for your remote turn on, oh and some ring terminals :P

You could buy a used saz1500d for a little under 300, and you'd have some headroom.

Also some people will chime in on AQ and audiopipe amps, I've personally never used them so I don't have any input on them.

thanks man, the site seems solid. any idea of what gauge i should get, or would that depend on the amp?

Depends on the amp..

1200 watts or so you'd be fine with a 4 gauge run.

The new Sundown SAX-1200D would be a great choice for an amplifier .... http://www.soundsolu...%252d1200D.html

Another option would be the SAX-125.2 http://www.soundsolu...%252d125.2.html depending on the voice coil option you choose for your "Q".

This amp wiring kit would be a great choice .... http://www.knukoncep...?prodID=KOL-AK4
