Power Handling of a 15" LI

Just curious about what numbers this sub can handle, I know its rated at 600RMS. But I thought I've seen people say they put 1000 into it with no problem, Is this true? If so, what would be a safe number to put into it once it is broken in?

I will be using this to power it:

No need for daily to run well over rms. Spend the same amount on a high quality amp that is ratted lower.

If your running it at 4 ohms then yeah you would be okay, just because you see someone running more rms than rated to their sub does not mean everyone can do it. There are special reasons why they are aloud to do that: box size, volume control, good amp settings and all that jazz.

Companies give rms ratings for a reason so use them, I just bought a 1000 watt sub and 1300 watt amp. This will give me some headroom but Im not trying to give the sub 1300 rms all day/everyday because I want to keep my equipment. I dont see the point of buying a 600 rated sub to give 1900 watts daily, no if your competing then that is another story.

I plan on running mine at 2 ohms (4ohm DVC in parallel)

Using a hifonics rated for 1200RMS @ 2 ohms.

But I'm only going to of course set voltage to have the amp pushing 600RMS.

I was just curious because of some people ive seen posting things and also because My 187 i had was amazing I loved it, and is the reason i came back to IA when I upgraded

I check the porch every day waiting for my sub to arrive, building box probably this weekend.

Just got done installing some infinity 692.9 6x9's and the 60.9CS 6.5" component package.

Only sad part, is i may have to upgrade my alternator, which could cost me some more money as my stock alt only puts out 85 amps. and I'll be running 2 Amps(hifonics for sub and Reference 475A for what i just posted.

Running this as my HU

Generally with the RE box calc you end up tuning higher than expected as it doesn't account for speaker displacement.

Yup or any bracing, I plan on running those numbers and adjusting port to compensate.

I just was looking for a ballpark figure. Then narrow it down as it gets closer to build time, which should be this evening.
