who clamps music.... we clamp tones more times then not and the numbers stay a little bit more steadier from there! clamping music doesn't mean anything due to the change clamping a tone would be more beneficial. especially to find your ohm load at the given tone! so you can wire your sub(S) lower on a burp!

for example my sub has an impedance rise of 4ohms on a 40hz burp starting at 2ohms it gives me a total of 6ohm for a final load on my amps! so i can now try to wire my sub lower to a 0.5ohm load to do my burb and see how much rise i will have! and if my impedance falls to low with the starting ohms being at 0.5ohms then i know i shouldn't wire it lower and stay at 2ohms! lol

but i assume most ppl already know this!

Even playing a test tone, your still pissing in the wind. I just don't see the point in knowing any way. It is what it is. If you need more power, your already going to switch amps...

yea im not clamping my amp, if i do it will be because im curious, and im bored. So will it even be worth to try and do the 6 with such low wattage going to each one of them? or just say eff it and do 2 sa 12's

Its going to be totally up to you. Finding out your power output to some is worth it, obviously to others it is not, further more keeping the power clean (before clip) is going to be something to look into because we all know clipping is what tears stuff up, which isnt what most people set out to do on a daily setup. Im sure all of you at least know 1 person that tore a sub/subs up from turning the gain up to much, or cranking the volume etc clipped the ever loving hell out of the sub and didnt understand why?!

You can always upgrade amps down the road. I know if it was me I'd probably lean towards doing the sa12s, but that's just a preference not a reason :)

the choice is up to you.

I think the overall sound reguardless of 5-8s or 2-12s is going to be the same, the cone area difference on that power isnt going to make much if any of an audible difference, and your not going for numbers or competition so its not going to matter really what you use, Im going to say go with the cheapest route, and I would imagine thats the 2-12s

yea, trying to figure things out, easiest route is sa 12's, cheapest i believe is sa12's, wiring/ohms the sa12's win there also. so now its a debate of being different, or the cool factor. But im think the sa 12's will win for sure. I also have a scope, so clipping isnt an issue really with me. on a side note i do have a RF 3sixty LINE DRIVER, that i may take out as i haven't really seen any good outcome from having it. i was hoping for it to help with voltage drop as not having the amp gain up that much, but after having it for a year, i havent really noticed anything.. if i had a mic i could do a real test.
