putting together my own components

so, as the title states i am looking to put together my own set of components. i found this silver flute mid that looks like it has a great flat response in the vocal ranges. does anyone think this thing will perform as its specs show? seems to good to be true for somthing of this price.and it will be paired with a sb acoustics tweeter crossed over at 2500 hz.(second order crossover)

Zaph has tested those drivers: Zaph Audio

Personally, if you're not extremely budget limited, I'd spend the extra $60 and go with something like the SB Acoustic mids. The Silver Flutes do okay for the price, but IMO the difference between $30/driver and $60/driver isn't that large.

Thanks. I'm not looking for strait sq, I just want somthing better than stock and that can keep up with my 18. I'm trying to stay under 140 for the parts so these are in my range. How would you say they perform compared to some 7" Dayton reference mids?

I don't know what your definition of "keep up" is, but it's going to be impossible for a pair of 6.5"/7" drivers to "keep up" with an 18" in the true sense of the term.

I think his definition of keep up is saying he wants too hear mids and highs not just bass.

Lower the sub level or look into drivers with very high efficiency like pro audio.

I'd start with your mounting locations and how much energy you are willing to put into the install including processing etc... Also don't pick your slopes now, if that is your goal you should just run passive
