Honestly bro, if it was me...I would just buy a 5.0 and sell yours.

You would prolly end up with more car and save some money too.

First, go to www.corral.net and search. It's been done thousands of times and you'll find every answer you will need over there.

Second, find a wrecked V8 that is complete and simply do a swap. The complete car will save time, money, and hassle. Get everything swapped over and running with all the bugs worked out, then upgrade the engine. YOu should be able to find a rusted out or seriously abused V8 car on the cheap. This was only $200.

Third, have fun!

He's probably got a nice clean 4 banger that is pretty cherry. I would do the swap before buying a V8 car as he is riding in a chassis that's never been tweaked or on the ragged edge probably. The NA 2.3 barely made enough power to move the car let alone do any damage to it. Too many V8s have been used and abused, and a nice one will easily blow his budget out of the water.

That is usually the best way people go about doing engine swaps, especially since a wrecked 5.0 can be had for dirt cheap. v8 swaps are a dime a dozen, so there is a plethora of information on the web.

Just a quick google search:

You're going to need everything: Engine, trans, wiring, computer, all drivetrain, suspension, fuel system, etc. . .

Seriously, visit the Corral as it's THE best place for information on Mustangs, and has the best classifieds as well.
