sa-8 enclosure

Recommended Posts

i have a sa-8 d2 and i was wondering what box would be better. I am going to buy a pre-fab box and don't know which one would be better

have a amp running 300 watts rms. just wanting the best option, which one should i get and why?

i know it likes a ported box from .6 to 1.25

one is .80 net box so .70 after displacement. this one mentions a 40" port is that good or right for this woofer?

and the other is 1.10 net and 1.00 after displacement

Neither of them look like anything I would get. They automatically turn me off because of the shitty 2$ speaker terminals. It would also help to decide though if they told you what frequency the boxes were tuned to.. It's hard to tell without any information. If I had to choose between those, I'd go with the first one though, just because the port is incredibly too small on the 2nd one.

One thing that's cool is the one box makes an 8" sound like a 10" :D

Why don't you get Andrew from Argent Audio to build you a box? He'll make an optimal enclosure designed for the driver, not the other way around.

Just my two cents! :)

well in the description it gives you the sizes but not the slot dimensions of the box and the port length so you can't actually find out the actual tuning of the box..

but that requires work and i would also never use a pre-fab box why b/c i don't trust other ppl to build me a box especially off of ebay, but i don't mind ppl designing box's for me to build! besides a box is easy to build especially the smaller they are!

for the first one with a 2inch slot i got a tuning of 37hz, with a 3inch slot about 45hz and with a 2.5slot 42hz

as for the second one it is a bit harder to figure out with out the port specs b/c that cubic space given is NET (total) so you still have to subtract the port displacement.

so in short the first box has higher tuning which means you lose your low ends BUT it will sound like a 10inch sub

and the second box is just as bad and maybe a little bit smaller!

at any rate i say BUILD one yourself and make it to FIT your car!! like for example in your car if you can fit 36wide by 17tall do it! then as for depth make it as small as possible so you can still be able to use the truck!! then use Velcro or some bracing of some kind to hole the box from moving!

make sense? and if you need some help with the sub box design you can use this site! it is pretty good!

or this one as a guild line!
