I ripped the rubber rib in my practically new Fi BL 15" please hel

So I just recieved my BL 15" fully loaded last week i got it pretty much broken in and today i noticed my box had slid around in my trunk almost sliding its way into my back seat and since my back seats were folded down the rubber rib of the sub actually got wedged against the ceiling of my trunk which is about 3-4 inches shorter towards the opening then in the middle of my trunk where it normally should sit. I tried my best to carefully get it out but i failed and ripped about a 2-2.5 inch slit in the rubber rib( bassically it looks like someone took a razor blade to it). I listened to it and theres no difference in sound or SQ that me or anyone could notice. Im wondering if reconing the sub is my only option or if there is an alternative. My friend claims black rubber cement would seal it and hold it together. Is there any type of adhesive that could seal the rip? Also is this harming my sub by listening to it?

you mean the gasket or the surround? if its the gasket, just contact fi and get a new one. if its the surround you could use silicone seal to fill the hole, at least thats what iv seen some people do.

I looked up the incredible goop and i found something called 'amazing goop' is that the same thing?

If it is a tear in the surround, use black silicone. I punched a small hole through an RE sub once and that worked great. Silicone is soft so it will do a great job at flexing as the surround flexes during normal use. Silicone will also bond very good to that surround so that way you won't have to deal with it tearing off.

As stated...use Goop or Windo-weld.

Do not just get any regular silicone..it does not bond to the surround material. Goop, or windo-weld does. DO NOT put it on thick, a few thin layers is all you need.
