I say check the wiring on the sub you ran the wires for the speakers on the amp weirdly i usually do 1 far left and one far right not 2wires close to each other in the middle. Idk if you get what im saying but just my little input when it comes to troubleshoot problems.

If the sub is wired wrong still it will still play so i say check the wiring load on the sub.

I only have the LOC spliced into one rear speaker though. I think that is why I'm only getting signal through one cable?

And with the HU, I have the "premium" sound system. So I'd have to bypass the stock amp and all, would just be a pain.

I ran a loc in a cobalt it worked fine but YOU HAVE to splice every speaker on your deck to get rca signals you cant just splice one speaker. THE least amount is 2speakers to tap into not just one. I say just say redo your LOC and tap into every speaker if you want to be cheap.

...Or you can get a new deck for better sq and LOT BETTER bass which would be the best option for the long run.

Agreeing with Nick. Decent HU and get rid of the Loc. Change Rca's and then you should be fine. If you decide to skip any of those.. your FI is not living up to its potential. You'd be better off just buying a 12" sony explode, boosting the bass to max on hu and amp, pin the gain and "trying" to slam.

Its like buying a Bugatti Veyron, filling it with 87 octane and then running $35 single ply trailer tires on all 4 corners. Why?

Head Unit is definitely in the soon future.

That will just require me to rewire all the speakers, since they're currently running off the little stock amp. That will be a whole different project.

just tested each. Only one has voltage running through it.

Also you need to have at least 2 speakers wired to the LOC, do that and make sure you have voltage running though both RCA cables and i bet your problem is fixed.

Just finished wiring both speakers to the LOC, now I have voltage through both RCA cables! AND, the voltage increased from .5 mV to about 1 volt

Although I do realize this still does not compare to a decent HU.

It will work in the meantime.

Hopefully this will make a difference when I can test it out tomorrow.

The other rear speaker, you said you only had one wire cut from one of the rear speakers wired to the LOC, now you have the other one to that same rear cut and connected to your LOC increasing voltage to 1v right? You can cut the other speaker wires as well.

I know on one of my amps when I messed with the Sub Sonic Filter it made my sub either hit hard or not hit at all. Try turning it all the way off or all the way on and see if that affects the output at all.

If the subsonic is set above what your trying to play there will be no output depending on where it was set and the crossover slope.

Just checked the voltage of the RCAs again, for some reason both are back down to .5

What would be the consequence of connecting the LOC to one speaker backwards? (polarity wise)

I give up. Time to get serious about a new head unit.

.5 is still enough voltage to get full power out of that amp. If anything mess with the eq on the hu. Not saying crank the settings but adjust them +- 2 or whatever.

On the polarity you just need to visibly check.

Oh yeah, if I turn the bass on the hu up, it continuously gets louder, but I know that may not be a clean signal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, using the Voltage = sqrt(RMS X impedance) formula..

Then, Voltage= sqrt(1200 X 1) Since I'm using an sae 1200d and the speaker is wired to 1 ohm.

So sqrt of 1200 is about 34.

OR, would I use the impedance of 2? (What the speaker actually is)?

Yeah try to get your voltage at 34. Then see what it is at make sure to use a 45hz test tone on repeat.

That is what I did (although I used a 50hz tone)

But voltage was reading 34.

Yes, phase went back to zero (didn't make a difference).

I may pull the speaker out later to check that wiring.

A quick way to check if it is wired wrong, at your box terminals just flip them around if its the same then there wired wrong internally if theirs a noticeable change in output then it is wired wrong outside.

yeah but just a quick tap and make sure you grab it by the rubber and don't do it when its loud do it at mid to low volume,

Just swapped the wires on the box and tested the sub that way. It sounds the same both ways.

Have you tried a different input signal to the amp, say an ipod or mp3 player straight to the amp?
