SA-8 Vs Ns V1

Recommended Posts

ok, so i have a nightshade 18 now, but i am thinking of switching to 4 SA-8s. i would have slightly less cone area (201 vs 254) but wouldn't i also have a higher amount of motor force and air displacement because of the added xmax of 4 woofers vs 1 woofer? what do you guys think? on the 1500 watts im running now, what would be the better route? im really just going for daily listening, i don't compete. there is also the wow factor of popping the hatch and saying "yea...those are 8s" but any input is appreciated.

also, please don't flame for this being another vs thread, im really just trying to find the relationship between motor force and cone area.

You've got everything right, slightly less cone area, but more coil for heat dissipation, and motor force.

so the 4 8s would probably be a better idea? possibly slightly louder?

The SA-8 is not an ordinary 8". So for your application it would be perfect! You can send me the NS v.1 for free .... :P

i never noticed how small sa-8s were until a local "comp" had a guy with 16 of them came and opened his trunk...needless to say, he shoulda got some sundown in there lol. he metered outstandingly low. but they sure are little guys.

I had 4 on a SAZ-1500D@ 1ohm in 5cu tuned to 32hz in my ford escape and metered 141.5db on a TL legal @ the headrest with more in it I believe. This was at my first comp (Slamology) and I didn't sweep any higher than 40hz with my vehicles res. freq. around 43-45hz...FTL! The SA8's are impressive in every aspect...got lots of those "Holy shit, those are 8's?!"

I have 4 sa8s on 3k and my ns18 was very much louder on same power. Much of that is the ammount of air moving about the cabin. 30sq in port for the 8s and 110 for the ns18. But for me the 8s fit well under my seat and still get real loud so I'm happy. Maybe the loudest "work truck" in houston.
