Any Honda Gurues Provide some info or point me in the right direction

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... Taking a step back away from working on woofer boxes for a while to finish up a couple of my honda projects..

I've got a 95EX w a D16Z motor Manual trans(that seems to be locked--trans is SUPPOSE to be good but I have no real way of knowing--(just picked the car up havn't torn into it yet.) from what I know the D16z is one of the good motors.. 125hp... Vtec btw

I've also got a 97 HX w a D16Y5 motor auto trans... which is a strong running/smooth shifting but the car is totaled. The motor in this car is listed as a vtec motor but isn't tagged that way on the engine... From what I know I believe this is a 109hp motor (or somewhere in that Ballpark)

Now what I'm looking at doing is pulling the motor out of the 97 and putting it in the 95 and keeping the original manual trans in the 95. I just need to find out if I can pair up the trans and if I need to change the wiring harness to do the swap... **and if there is some way around changing the harness/computer if I swap the head/fuel system over... (this swap isn't to gain power... I just want a driveable civic... lol)

I know it's a big project either way... just need some help getting pointed in the right direction.

All of your motors are "DB", where did you get that from? they should just be d-series, and if that's so then i suggest going to d-series.org and search around there. There is a ton of information over there. but as far as i know you can swap engines with trannys and all, there may just be some modifications that need to be done.
