Could you give more info on the amp and speakers? Glad to see another MN'sotan around here!

I would not do that. I know someone who did that and the results were bad.

On a very select few amps you can, but 99.9% of them you can't. Guessing based on what you might have I'd say no way in hell

I have a kicker 650.4 and I have a set of 4ohm 6.5 inch infinity speakers I want to put in the front doors and a set of 20hm 5.25 inch infinity speakers I would like to put in the back doors. Is this not possible?

The reason I want to do this is because I already have all this equipment and would be better than what I currently have installed.

Ditch the rear speakers and concentrate on the front stage. I would not recommend it as it will be detrimental to the amplifier and sound stage.

I'd seriously bet that amp is not 2ohm stable in stereo

Thanks 98GMC for the advice after reading your comment I had no idea what you meant by the font stage so I did some research and found out what you were talking about and sounds like a good idea Im going to get rid of all the equipment and spend the money on a nicer set of speakers and amp. Do you have any advice on an amp and set of 6.5 inch speakers around $600 to $700?

No one makes a bridgeable 4 channel amp anymore? Did I miss something? I haven't seen but one series of amps in close to 20 years that wasn't 2 ohm stable in stereo.

I think we all made the mistake of thinking the op was going to run 4 ohm and 2 ohm together as in a parallel connection. (Or at least I was).

You are right that there are 4 channel amplifiers that are stable to 2 ohms per channel stereo and bridgeable. Sundown being one of them.

The Eclipse 34230 (2-channel) wasn't bridgeable and wasn't 2ohm stereo stable :) That makes #2 for you :P

Anyways, to answer the original question yes you can run 2ohm per channel on the front 2 channels and 4ohm per channel on the rear 2 channels.

Since you assume that isn't the series that I was thinking of...what series was I thinking of? I'd be surprised if you know.

Thinking back there were several others but they were never common.

I really don't know off hand. The only reason I assumed that wasn't the amp you were talking about was because that was a single model not a series, and you said series :P

If I had to guess, I would say it was something manufactured by Blade. They seemed to do some things back in the day that were less than common.

Actually the one that came to mind was the Alto full range Class D amps. I seem to recall some of the Nakamichis being only 4 ohm stable, also.
