What do I loose between 30hz-32hz tune?

Recommended Posts

Im upgrading from 2 12's on 1300wts tuned to 32hz to 2 15's xcons on 3500wts tuned to 30hz. Of course the xcons will be loader and sound great, but i've never ran subs in a box tuned that low.am I going to notice a diff in the upper range? My front comps play pretty well down low have them crossed hfp at 63hz.Just want to know what to expect.I play a lot of rap,and r/b some rock.

You should be fine and the big output gain you get from bigger woofas and more power should make the difference inaudible.

X2, changing box tuning a couple hertz VS your cone area gain, cone area win!

You should be very pleased with the outcome :)

If your not competing, 30hz on the xcons is damn great. Very flat and will crush the lows!! Cross your subs at 50 or 60, you wont be disappointed in output or SQ.

I can tell you that without a doubt a much larger impact on frequency response will be the change in drivers themselves. You wouldn't know how the xcons sound on 32 hz anyways, so you wouldn't know what to compare to, apples to apples. If you want to see what that frequency change will do to the same driver, model one in winISD or something like that. Chances are it'll show you all frequencies are within 1 maybe 1.5 db of each other between boxes tuned to 30 and 32 hz.
