Big 3

hey guys..im about to order some 1/0 to do the big 3 in, and was wondering if it was worth the extra money to buy welding cable, or if knu 1/0 would do the same thing. Im only asking because i've heard some people say bad things about knu because its not pure copper.

Also..do you think 15 feet would be enough..its on a 01 cavalier. Thanks!

If you look around online you can find welding cable cheaper than knu wire. And Knukonceptz does have pure copper wire, it's called their kolossus fleks cable. Its like 99.9%, people on here are talking about their klmx wire which is 90% aluminum clad over 10% copper. Fifteen feet should be enough depending on where your alt sits at.

if your alt is sitting right on top which i am pretty sure it is...then 15 ft would be plenty..

im pretty sure its right on top too..i'll go look in a little bit. So would the KLMX not be a good idea to use, or would it still do the job?

i was able to get all my power wire ran, do the big 3, and still have about a foot and a half of wire left with just the 0 gauge kit from knu. But this is in a CRX, super short wire run! If you really want to measure it, get a string and route where the wire will go. Easy

sounds like to got a pretty good deal being able to do your big 3 just with the wire from the 1/0 kit lol..i think im just going to stick with getting 15 feet to be safe..im pretty sure that it will be more then enough,and even if i do have some left over, i got a buddy thats going to be doing his big 3 pretty soon so im sure we could find a use for it there.

But again, will the klmx be fine to use, or sound i got a different route?

I've seen plenty of posts where people say they hate the KLMX, although I have used the KLMX several times without issue. I think it would be just fine to use. Make your buddy chip in on the cost of wire and his own connectors and I think that would be a great way to go

:EDIT: I think the problem most people have is they cut too deep when they're stripping the ends off the wire which causes lots of the strands to break off. As long as you don't cut into the strands when you strip the wire it won't do that which goes for pure copper as well, it just doesn't break off as easy.

alright..i've got the klmx wiring kit and i havent had any problems with it either..i was just wondering why there were some people that are always hating on it. i guess i'll be ordering that pretty soon.

Almost every product is going to have people that don't like it, or think it sucks. If you have used it before and haven't had any problems so far then i say go for it. Someone who may not like the product may have misused/installed it wrong which caused problems, so it isn't always the product it can be user error very easily.

There's a post on here I believe by Duran, which talks about the current flow in the klmx wire(90% alum,10%copper) and kollossus (100% copper). And how the klmx wire needs to be oversized to properly work. But It depends on your install. The klmx can only handle up to 250 amps of current while the kollosus is over 300. So take that into consideration.

well it just going into my cavalier with stock electrical, and im running a SSD on 750 watts so i hope the KLMX will still do the job.
