Componet Advice and Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, here's my situation . I'm running 1 18" btl with a saz-1500.... I'll be upgrading the sub amp soon. But I have stock speakers right now an they're not cutting it whatsoever. So I picked up an alpine pdx 100.4 for a good ass price. I also ordered a 4 channel 4 ga knukonceptz flex amp kit And I'm looking into a componet set or just speakers. Sizes that will fit in my car are 5-1/4 and 6-3/4. My price range is like 200-250 bucks for speakers. So I was looking into type r componets and my question is, could I run just a type r component set up front with crossovers and just two type r speakers w/o crossovers in the back? Also im wondering if i could run just 4 type r speakers in each door with the amp and no external crossover? And also I'm open to your guys recommendations other brands for speakers in my price range and Rms range with my amp.

Thanks, Nick

Being that you are interested in Type R's you may want to check out this thread. BanginGMC's Build Log - SSA Car Audio Forum He is running the Type R components and you may could get some info from him about them. Good Luck!!

Yah I know he's recommended them to other people around here. I'm also wondering the differences of running one componet set and two speakers in the back versus just the speakers, besides no tweeters

Check out these components, currently I have the 6.5" and they are great for the price. They even have both sizes you need in case you wanted to use the same brand up front and in the back.

Clean power yes they will, but you can always turn the gain down on the channels controlling the 5.25" components on your amp. You can also call(number on website) Navid at Crescendo or email him at [email protected] and ask him personally about that.

There are other brands out there as well just sharing with you what I have experience and like that are in you budget.

I am running 1 set of the Crescendos in my front doors off 160 rms per door and they love. Loud and crisp is how I would describe the sound. Best components you will find at this price poit for sure. I would run them 2 way in your doors and a second set in the back set up coaxial style.

Yes these components can be ran 2 way or the tweet can be attached to middle like a regular speaker. So, $200 for 2 sets and spend the xtra $50 on some sound deadening for your doors. Check out fatmat.com, it's like $45 shipped for 25 sqft iirc.

Instead of running the speakers seperate from the tweeter and using a passive crossover to control them you can put the tweeter in the middle of the driver and run them together. Look the pictures on the site and see how one has the gold plug in the middle then another picture the tweeter is in the middle of the speaker instead.

Alright I gotch thanks for that one. I'm most likely gonna go ahead and get 2 sets of 5-1/4's. Probably gonna pick up a Fatmat package of four 18" x 25" sheets just for my doors.
