I am buying a yellow top from my friend. It is taller than my original battery and the wires won't reach.

first cut some more wire

put ring terminals on each end

use a 1/4 or 5/16 screw lock washer and nut with some white grease to prevent corrosion and

then wrap it in black tape!

and there you have a quick fix!

a better way is to get a butt connector with set screws on both ends! that way you just shove the wire in and away you go!

Just so we're clear I mean the factory battery hookups ups for the car. I know how to add wire fir the amps. It's just how do I lengthen my factory battery hookups, is watt the question was meant to be.

Why not? I'm getting it as part of deal from my buddy. I'm paying next to nothing for it; only $50 more than I was already paying for the sub and amp

This is a pic of a regular battery sitting in a car. The factory + and - from the car come up and clamp on to the posts. The yellow top is taller than my old one, so the factory +and - are not long enough to reach over and clamp down. How can I extend them?

provided you have 1/0 wire in there if not get a 4awg one! it is called a coupler lol

Already been answered for ya. Cut off the terminal on the factory wire, get a coupler, connect coupler to factory wire, add more wire between coupler and batt.

keep the wa-mart up front and put the yellow top in back with the amp! :captain:

Or you could just buy longer battery cables, since it sounds like you atleast know how to hook them up. This way would look the cleanest, and have the least amount of chance for problems down the road.

If it's taller, I assume you have checked that the height will not hinder the hood shutting? The 2 previous suggestions would be good!

thats what the roommate suggests. It might be a good idea. This is gonna sound dumb, but what all do I need to put the second battery in my trunk?

You need the wire coming form the front battery to connect to the positive on the rear battery. And a ground in the rear to go to the rear battery.

You can then connect amp power/ground to the rear battery.

Do I have to move the amp power wires or can I keep em up front. Which is better?
