Can't find a high output alternator.

Give Rob a call at 1-951-509-5617. He'll be able to help you. Dc Power Engineering makes some of the best alternators out there.

Just gave them a call.

$480 for a 180 amp alternator seems way steep to me.

Yeah it is steep but great quality and you get what you pay for, sometimes that is your only option. The alternator for my car is way more than that so your lucky, but only a couple places make them for my vehicle and Id rather by from DC Power than anybody.

Well have you found anywhere else to buy an alternator? If not i would say then that no this price is not steep. Compared to some other alts, like ones for chevys and fords, yes it is steep, but not when compared to your options. And DC make high quality products that are designed to last and produce power at low idle, not only when it is fully reved up. GL with you search, i hope you find something that fits your project!!

Typically Foreign car's alternators tend to be more expensive. Try and shop around, Try Iraggi, Excessive Amperage, Ohio Gen. That's who I can think of off the top of my head.

Let's see, my girlfriend's 240 amp alt did 290 amp at ~2k rpm and 160 amp at idle. My alt can take 3k at idle all day with lights and AC on. DC Power's alts are worth every penny. If you buy a shitty alt and it craps out or doesn't do what you want, you going to be spending that and more for the alt you should have gotten the first time.

When I ordered from DC Power I called and told them what my budget was (500) and that I wanted a 200-220 amp. They told me they would give me a 250 amp for 525 shipped. SWEET!!

I DON'T recommend calling to negotiate a price unless you got your credit card in hand and are READY to buy.

I mean if you give them a budget, they will work with the budget to get you the best you want. Let's just say that their alts are really under rated.

Hey man, atleast you weren't quoted $900 with the Volvo lol. I understand the build quality, I just don't have the cash this year :(.

Talked with a guy at excessive amperage, and he told me he could custom build me a 200 amp alternator for $385. Sounds like a steal to me..?

Ha. Where are these alternator shops you speak of?

Do you mean like some car parts store or something ofthe like?

I live in macon, Georgia. Never seen or heard of an alternator shop.

No its not the local parts store. It should be a place that rebuilds starters and alternators.

As suggested above, call around. Try Iraggi, Excessive Amperage, Ohio Generators. IIRC there was even a company I thought was out of goergia.
