Ive got a situation! Any ideas?

Recommended Posts

I just swapped my 2 Sundown Audio SAZ-3000d's for 2 3500's but im getting much less volume, 2.5 v drop, subs are heating up fast, excursing lots, and even music mute amps are getting warmer than they should, one particularly more than the other. Im at a loss! please any info will be helpful!

Are all the wires connected as they should be? I'd hater to seem redundant, but check all the speaker connections.

The speaker wires are correct, subs are paralled at sub. each sub is seperate from the other, only two wires are coming from each sub. on amp terminals + - - + im using the first + and the right side - on each amp

Interesting.

Try strapping?

I wouldn't honor that would change anything, I'm getting the power, but not the volume. :/

Cancellation?

that's my first guess if they're not strapped, are the gains exactly the same? Check the voltage at your terminals of your amplifiers and then at your battery bank to see if you're loose or something.

One thing I could think of for the strapped set up is that sundown mixed the br in with the br out and vise-versa. This is a problem with some of the newer SAZ 1500s. I ran into this problem. To test, play a tone/music so that the bass is audible. Turn off radio, unplug the linking rca from the master, turn the radio back on and see if the volume of the bass is the same or quieter. If it is quieter, then you have them strapped right. If it is the same, then try to plug the linking rca into the "br in" on the master amp instead of the "br out." Also, plug the linking rca into the "br out" of the slave amp instead of the "br in." This will make a world of difference. Ha going from one amp to two amps makes a difference!!!

lol i don't think my br in and out have been switched but i know if i unlink the amps i could run into an issue i would think? b/c the terminals are still pluged in together no? plus wouldn't the ohm load change? and i would only be powering 1 coil from the sub(s) ?
