Opinions on these 3?

really liking the clarion on sale for $379.. although the 9887/ida-x305 can be had for $265

Will be running 2 ED amps, ed 9.65 comps and a 13A sub ported at 30hz

Decent EQ, ipod and usb connectivity.. atleast 3 preouts including sub.

All 3 have the features I need.. curious if there's any noticeable sound quality different between Clarion and Alpine?

Never owned a clarion unit, always had Pioneer.

I know for fact the Alpine 9887 is 2-way active capable and is a great SQ unit if set-up properly.

I've personally never been a fan of Clarion.

If you want to stay with Pioneer. Find a Pioneer Premier 800PRS. I would put it on par if not above the other 3 you have listed.

id stick to the alpines. their digital media receivers are nice. im using the w404 and very pleased with it.

I am a Pioneer guy for HU. I tried a "high end" Alpine once, and I never liked it.

I don't know weather to laugh or cry...

To the OP, Clarion makes some very nice gear, contrary to popular opinion. I like the sound of their HUs better then Alpine, personally. I find Alpine to be fairly bright.

Although I know that it was not part of the original equation, and I usually try not to veer from the OP's actual question, the recommendation of the 800PRS is seconded here... but I have a Pioneer bias, so take that at face value. My sources at home and in my vehicles are all Pioneer (Premier in the rides and Elites at home), and I have yet to be disappointed.

Personally, I fell in love with my Alpine, I'm a huge fan of Media Headunits. Personally I never use C.D.s, they always seem to get scratched or misplaced.

Not so much the product as it is the busisness practices and customer service or lack of.

Indeed... I know in the past they put out a bunch of crap with high failure rate. But their lack of customer service and shitty business practices... Well, let's just say i don't like to bash companies, but I'll lambaste that SOB and his company in a heartbeat. He screwed 3 personal friends of mine as well as countless internet pals.

If you want a great quality all one brand in your trunk, I suggest someone like Jacob from Sundown. Much better product, much better CS, and excellent business practices. He worked hard for what he has, he didn't use an inheritance to swindle people. No, I have no affiliation with Jacob at all, I just know him from the forums for the last 7 or 8 years I would guesstimate.

I will only use Alpine or Premier. Nothing else. But Alpine is the best option imo.
