Help with building my own comp set

Recommended Posts

So I'm going to be redoing my system in a few weeks or months and everything is practically RE audio and Us amps I already have the subs but im still looking for the amp and the speakers and there amp just about it. For the amp its between the SAE 1200 and the Us amps Md1d. For some speakers i dont really know but i ve been craving these in my doors and some tweeters so they can match the subs. But dont really no about the tweeters or the crossover because i dont think ill be running active i'm willing to spend 150 on the speakers as i can get hooked up from some RE dealers and pretty much everything.

While I didn't completely understand your post......if you were planning to try to run the 8" REx with tweeters as your front speakers....No, not going to happen.

Why not just go with the XXX comps if you were wanting to stick w/ RE?

The XXX comps are way out of my budget. So Is there is no way I can fit Two 8's for midbass and some tweeters for the higher ranges. Because if i cant do this i might just go with the type r components or the RE RE line comps.

So just put it this way I want to have a good front stage. My budget is 150 for both sets comps. Ive been looking at the Alpine Type R components The RE components even thought about making my own set with an 8 inch sub(RE REX 8) and some tweeters and a crossover. I can pretty much get 2 sets of alpine type R comps for 140 the pair or some RE RE line for the same price or the RE 8 and some tweeters and a crossover for the same price 140. Benn looking at some kicker ones but still not decided.

Is it possible to have a 2-way frontstage with an 8" mid and a tweeter? Yes, it is. There are some things that need taken into consideration, so these aren't "easy" setups to accomplish. But it's possible.

Are you going to do it with an 8" subwoofer like the REx? No, you are not. Just because it's an 8" driver, it does not mean it will make a good mibass or midrange (since the driver would be playing well into the midrange).

Drop the idea of trying to use the REx as a mid in a 2-way setup and just go with a pre-built comp set. Those Type-R components are actually fairly interesting; the mid uses a dual-gap motor similar to XBL.

I think I'm going for the Type R ones because i can get them 70 for the pair.

The Type R comps would be a good choice for your budget.

I dont plan on running active because i still dont have an amp for them i think mark has a deal on a kicker 350.4 might go for that one because its 109. I already ran The alpine Type R components once I don't know witch one just yet let me pop out some that i may have in mind.

I want to hear some good midbass and be able to listen to music not just super bass. So my substage is going to be 2 RE SE 12 off a Sundown SAE 1200d in a sealed box.

I can pratically get these new for about 80-90 all so the price on ebay doesn't really matter
