A while back I bought a cheap budget system used off one of my buddies friends for $150 bucks. It was an 12" Orion sub, Alpine amp, and a Obcon box. Sounds pretty good and hit fairly hard. So when I bought it, the seller stated it was a 200 watt rms sub running off the amp @ 2 ohms which produces 300 watts rms. He didn't know the model of the sub just the specs the local audio shop told him when he bought the package.

Well I am in the process of installing 2 ssd 12" and a 1600 watt amp. So for fun while I am waiting to finish the box I decided to pull the sub from the temp setup just to laugh at the tiny magnet it should have. Based off what he told me and the dust cap I came to the conclusion it was an Orion C12d4 wired at 2 ohms. But to my surprise, when I pull it out I see this....

Its an Orion P12d2! :) And, they had it wired at 4 ohms, which is only about 150 watts off that amp. The P12 is rated at 500 rms! So I quick mount it back in the box and hook it up to my new amp which puts down 700 watts at 4 ohms, set the gains for the correct rms, and let er rip! WOW! haha had I know I probably would have just kept it and built a better box! But I already have my ssd's and I am sure they will out rock this sub! Yup! It was a good day! :dancing:

Here is the Orion Bio on the sub:

That's the plan! :fing34: If I sell this setup that should be enough for me to order my components finally. I still have a brand new prefab box and 2 New Brutus square 12's sitting here to off load too. New deck with that money I hope!

Cool man. They're actually some decent subs. I'm running two of the 10" versions of those currently.

Yeah its not to bad at all. It sounds pretty clean and the output was decent before for 1 12. Now that its get 500 watts its a world of difference. Sub has some nice excursion now too. Before the cone didn't move that much. lol I can't wait to get my ssd's in though.
