A while back I bought a cheap budget system used off one of my buddies friends for $150 bucks. It was an 12" Orion sub, Alpine amp, and a Obcon box. Sounds pretty good and hit fairly hard. So when I bought it, the seller stated it was a 200 watt rms sub running off the amp @ 2 ohms which produces 300 watts rms. He didn't know the model of the sub just the specs the local audio shop told him when he bought the package.

Well I am in the process of installing 2 ssd 12" and a 1600 watt amp. So for fun while I am waiting to finish the box I decided to pull the sub from the temp setup just to laugh at the tiny magnet it should have. Based off what he told me and the dust cap I came to the conclusion it was an Orion C12d4 wired at 2 ohms. But to my surprise, when I pull it out I see this....

Its an Orion P12d2! And, they had it wired at 4 ohms, which is only about 150 watts off that amp. The P12 is rated at 500 rms! So I quick mount it back in the box and hook it up to my new amp which puts down 700 watts at 4 ohms, set the gains for the correct rms, and let er rip! WOW! haha had I know I probably would have just kept it and built a better box! But I already have my ssd's and I am sure they will out rock this sub! Yup! It was a good day!

That's the plan! If I sell this setup that should be enough for me to order my components finally. I still have a brand new prefab box and 2 New Brutus square 12's sitting here to off load too. New deck with that money I hope!

Yeah its not to bad at all. It sounds pretty clean and the output was decent before for 1 12. Now that its get 500 watts its a world of difference. Sub has some nice excursion now too. Before the cone didn't move that much. lol I can't wait to get my ssd's in though.
