Look what USPS gave me!

Recommended Posts

Umm, our drivers use the same packaging, all new drivers are shipped UPS, and UPS still drops them. They rejected the most recent claim, so for the 3rd time, we had to eat the cost of a sub woofer and the shipping because of their careless shipping. If UPS rejected it, USPS will do the same, just take 3x as long to get back to you. :(

Well i already went up to the post office and bitched. He said he "sincerely apologizes" and is "very sorry for my inconvenience" (my ass)

They want me to send in a claim and it could take 2-4 weeks to here from them. We all know how that mail-in claim shit works...

So, PHI and Shizzon, what do you think I should do?

Weld it?

Or should i be able to just throw it in the box and be fine?

You could ship it back to Fi and see if they can swap in a new basket.

I didnt buy it from Fi but thats what i was thinking. Im hopin Nick will reply to at least one of the topics i made with a price on a new basket and the shipping cost. I already E-mailed him. Im jus gonna try the weld first and see what happens. I cant think of any reason why i shudnt be able to weld it.

UPS actually took my claim and helped me through the whole thing. The manager of the store I shipped it at, actually did all the paperwork for me. I got my money about 2-3 weeks after.

Make sure that you show that they have your sub. Their accounting department takes care of claims.

Weld it. It won't hurt. If it doesn't work then you can still send it to Fi for a new basket and new recone.

How much is a new basket and recone?

I wouldn't bother even trying to weld it. Ever weld cast aluminum? HE HE. . .

Even if you manage to get the basket flat and square, you can be sure everything else on the driver is shifted. Looking at that damage, I'd be willing to bet the pole has shifted as well.

How can i tell if anything else is messed up? like the internals and what not

And i havent ever welded cast aluminum, lol. I take it its pretty difficult aye?

welding aluminum is an art, let alone a cast piece.

As far as the rest, there really is no way to tell aside from popping the dust cap off and checking the gap.

Damn bro! That is just rediculous! I'm ebarrassed to say that I work for the USPS and you would be shocked to see what people do with packages. Sorry, I don't work in the customer service part but in letter processing so I can't help with any info. Stay on them and don't give in or give up.

So what are my chances that i actually get my money back? slim to none?

Was it insured? If it wasn't they're gonna be pricks but otherwise it's a good possibility......just will take awhile. FTL!!

I would stay up their ass on it. Did you have to sign off on it when you received it or was it just dropped off? They may give you shit over signing off and not saying anything when you got it.

Don't bother welding it unless you know people at a fab shop and a machine shop ( side work ). It won't be flat after welding it back together and I'm sure it's bent from being dropped.

That sucks, I hope usps reimburse you. The usps by me sucks balls. I feel for you. Good luck.
