95 4runner Rear Buildout and Kickpods

Recommended Posts

BIG install coming soon!....

This is my first build out....the only experience i have with glass are with the 2 kick pods i have in there now and it was a learning one! They turned out great but i made the mistake of drilling a big hole through the back to port them...oooops! They made $800 dollar comps sound like a gramaphone....so I'm making new ones. Along with, 2 pods on rear of the headliner, 2 amp racks on the rear panels and 2 enclosures above the wheel well.

The equipment...

Current System:

Kenwood KDC-X890 Head unit

Phoenix Gold ZX475 Amp

Phoenix Gold XO Elite TI6 Comps Made by Morel

12" Fosgate Punch HE2 Dual 4ohm in a HUGE bandbass box

Adding:

2 DLS 8'' Coax Speakers(rear)

2 DLS ULTIMATE UP1C 1 Tweeters(replacing blown morels)

2 Kicker Solo Classic 09S10C4 10-Inch 4-Ohm Subwoofer

1 Phoenix Gold ZX600 Amp

MIDI Fused Distribution Block W/ Digital Display

The new equipment is in the mail, I should start on it in no more then 2 weeks.

Stay Tuned....

I am having a hell of a time with ordering my subs! I have already been taken for $300 trying to buy them from those crooks over at Dealer Cost Car Audio. Fuck those guys!! Then I tried amazon and they don't have anymore 4ohm models in stock. They have 2ohm, but that would be a 1 ohm load in parallel...i'm sure that amp could handle it but don't want to push it. What if they have dual 2 ohms in stock?? Could I run the 2 VC's in series on each sub, then parallel them together to get the amp to see 2 ohms?? My budget is $150/sub...needs to work in small enclosure and IMO, real solo-barics are the best for that.

The pics you requested jay-cee...

Those tweets sticking out of there are some cheap morels to temporarily replace my blown ones.

The amp is getting trashed there!! It is not designed to go under a seat and is slowly going to shit. the leds don't light up anymore and the frequency potentiometer is going out along with the front left channel. Sux!

it would be more trick if i wanted to sacrifice those rear compartments.....but the subs sound good firing toward the rear glass....they will sound better when i seal them tighter then a nuns pussy! I need to do the same with the pods, they are leaking through the tweets...think i have a plan tho.
