FI Q or FI SSD with TRUE 850 watts rms

I am deciding between the FI Q 12" and FI SSD 12". I will be hooking up to a Rockford Fosgate Power Series 851S 2 channel amp that is bridged and 4 ohm stable. It is rated at 850X1 watts rms @ 4 ohms. But on the birthsheet is over 900 RMS. I was wondering what would sound better for that amount of power the SSD or the Q? I am leaning towards the Q from reviews I read and what I've heard, but definately don't want to underpower it. I have ran several diff. systems with this amp and it has pushed them no problem with the gain no higher than 1/4, so i'd assume that it should be able to handle the Q. Thanks for ne input!

you can put a 3000w amp on there and handle it fine.

But also.. even a 400w amp can kill a sub too...

It's not the amp, it's the user. If you do not know early warning signs to sense for when a sub may be stressing, then u need to find that out first.

Yes, but basically I don't know which sub would have better results using that amp. I am going for SQ in this setup and know it is usually better to have excess power for a sub than under powering it for good quality sound and clarity(SQ). So do you think that my amp I'm using will be enough for that clarity or will it sound better on an SSD where I know I'll have plenty of power?

you can put a 3000w amp on there and handle it fine.

But also.. even a 400w amp can kill a sub too...

Power doesn't determine sq. Less power might be even better for sq because the driver will have to move less. "The more excursion, the more distortion and phase problems you will get, independent of driver design. Laws of physics dictate that." Generally the closer to xmax for a sub, the less linear it gets, which introduces distortions. Sounds like you want the Q, so go for it. Only thing to worry about is adjusting the gain properly on the amp and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply. So i'll get the Q the only think I don't know is if I should get the "cooling" option or not. Cooler is obviously bettter. But i've heard mixed reviews on whether to get it or not. Also it says it can handle and additional 200-500 watts. Is this only because it will run cooler to handle more power? Thanks
