Good read, great info. thanks.

My amp is designed (old school, class a/b) to run best at 8 ohm mono. I need to read up more on class d amps.

sorry for the disruption, thanks for the info.

That seems counter intuitive. The good old school amps weren't cutting corners like today and were surely happy at loads under 8 ohms.

Either way on a sub there is NO WAY that you are going to hear a difference anyways. The amount of distortion you can sustain before your ear can hear it at low frequencies is disgusting.

I would also bet that this is partly the problem the OP has. In his previous setup he ran it into distortion creating a sense of loudness, the Dcon's it sounds like aren't setup in his box to do that which can surely make it seem to be quieter.

OK OK OK, whoever said just let them brake in was right, and who ever said just let them play loud for a couple of hours was right. I spent the last three hours playing 20hz test tones and sine sweeps and deep bass musik, after my sub sat the my truck in 98 degree heat all day, and the lows are back as a matter of fact I'm getting the same kind of sound as I was from the 10's only I got louder lows and the bass seems to kick harder than before.

:woot: :woot:

Your subsonic should about 3hz lower than your tuned frequency.

I would loose my interest in car audio completely if my SSF was stuck 3hz below my tuning frequency...LOL

to the origional poster...sounds like the enclosure is at fault or the subs just

have not had a chance to loosen up

I have installed Dcons and they get right down and dirty with the low stuff

oh I loosend them up alright, its viberating the front wall of my truck bed and when the bass "kicks" if feels like one of my kids is kicking the back of my seat, lol.

glad you got the problem fixed but yeah just curiosity do the DCON's compare to CVR's or they sound way better?

I can actually say, since I used to own a CVR on the same kind of set up, that the DCON's sound way better, and since its ported it hits harder too, but thats just my opinion.

Seems like there's something more at play. A driver like the Dcon shouldn't have that appreciable a difference in suspension compliance.....and having used one myself for several weeks, I can honestly say I heard absolutely zero difference in sound (nor have I with any other driver I've used).

Regardless, glad to hear your now extremely pleased with the Dcon. 'Tis a great affordable driver.
