so last night i was on my way home from the tech n9ne and brotha lynch concert bumpin the new kutt calhoun cd and i noticed on higher notes like 50hz-60hz that my power hx2 started making this slight rattle type noise. whichis funny cause i just posted yesterday bout finding recones. well i thought it might be a lead slappin and doesnt look to be that. how can i determine if its coil rub? it kinda sounds like its comin from the dust cap area tho. this has me scared/sad cause i just got my sundown amp and i know i didnt over due it yet.........

SO SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Free air it to try to see where the noise is coming from. Also, smell the motor/voice coil area and see it smells burnt. If it smells burnt and the sound is coming from the voice coil, then you probably were sending clipped power to your sub which got it hot and slightly deformed your voice coil. Or you may have your SSF set too low and you tore your spider(s). Take it out of the box and check it out.

Something may have possibly gotten trapped under the dustcap.

Free air it to further troubleshoot, we can't make an accurate diagnosis without more information on your part.

i free aired it and still does the same. i inverted it and it does it but u can barely here it which makes me think its sumthing under the dust cap. but also the spider isnt flat all the across it sinks in which makes me think suspension sag. from hours of googling it i read the hx2's are bad about that. i talked to a guy named forevrbumpn and he can do me up a recone with stiffer suspension. cant do more testing cause my h/u crapped out on me

Is the dust cap loose or have a hole in the glue holding it down anywhere?

I've had no issues with PSi soft parts. Nor have I heard or seen any.

Daily they seem to work fine. But when we receive a recone with a shorted coil directly form PSI, and when we burp the other recone on only 3K watts and the cone rips in half, and we email PSI about replacing them and he says no because his soft parts are rated to 2500 watts. We got quad leads on the recones, we were going to be burping 8K per woofer hence getting quad leads, and we had mechanical failure at 3K.
