SAE 1200D vs. SAZ 1000D with Fi SSD15!

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I just order a ssd15 over the weekend and was gonna be powering it at 800 RMS.

Currently my order is for just the basic 15, no flatwind, no bp power. But now I have the opportunity to get a better amp and I am trying to decide between the Sundown SAE 1200 and the sundown SAZ 1000, I read with the flatwind and bp power you can put a lot more power into it, so i was looking at changing my order to include one or both of the upgrades. Both of those amps are the same price so I wasnt sure which to go with.

So the question is! : Which amp with which upgrades would give me the best performance for the sub?

Thanks,

Ryan

both amps put out more rms than posted.

but the SAZ-1000d is better made than the SAE-1200d but the SAE-1200d puts out more power

go with the SAZ-1000d... the SAE-1200d might blow that sub

If you have to ask, don't put in an amp that outputs double the woofers rated power handling.

as of now im getting the stock sub which would be 800 RMS, but with the upgrades it is my understanding that it can handle more power, but i am not exactly sure how much... so I wanted to know if it had both upgrades (flatwind coil and bp power) which amp would be better, or should i just get one of the upgrades

They should add that an experienced user could put that much power to an upgraded woofer, you control the fate of your driver, if you learn fast, meaning if you can spot distortion before you end up blowing it and adjust your amplifiers settings you'll be just fine.

BP power helps some..but it doesn't help stupidity.

If you do something stupid the sub will tell you and quit working :)

Setting everything up is very critical.

Alright, thanks for the input... I'm new to Fi products so i just wasn't sure about all of the upgrades and stuff. Also fairly new to car audio in general, which is why im looking for help here. I had read in another thread;

"If you have under 1000 watts for the sub

go with the 1 15" SSD

If you have about 1000 watts for the sub

go with the 1 15" SSD w/Flatwind

If you have about 1300 watts for the sub

go with the 1 15" SSD w/Flatwind and BP option

if you have more than 1000 watts less then 1300 watts get a 15" Q

Got about 1500 watts get the 15" Q with BP option"

so that kind of confused me to start with and I just wanted to make sure I didn't make a mistake.

Thanks again for your input and constructive criticism. Just trying to learn!

The SSD is the lower end sub, but still pounds.

The Q is more meant for Sound Quality but also gets really loud.

It all depends on what your looking at achieving

1200 RMS on a Q is gonna sound different than 1200 RMS on a BL

You get what you pay for, but if you are getting the SSD you should get both options just to be safe and make sure you install the amp correctly with a proper box for the sub
