2010 SSA Texas GTG

Recommended Posts

I can't believe the get together has come and gone. It was a good meet with familiar faces and a few new faces. Thanks to Big Jon and the team at the Happy Cow Bar and Grill for their efforts in making this meet possible. Metering and full tilt demos were cut short this year, but that didn't stop us from hanging out and talking car stereos. Enough of my rambling, now some pics.

1.jpg

Jake was one of the few to get to meter on BigJon's TL.

2.jpg

The Happy Cow Bar and Grill allowed us to setup a lane next to their covered patio. This made for a great meet in the shade. Many thanks.

Here's another angle of the people enjoying that nice patio.

3.jpg

This is Jake's setup. Two Fi BLs off of a Sundown 3000. Jake is running those Alpine 6 x 9's in a dipole setup. These Austin guys sure are weird. Hence the saying: Keep Austin Weird. :P

More on the way.

Another familiar face that made it out was Edward from Austin.

16.jpg

Edward's Infinity is clean and cool with a hot Tangerine paint job.

17.jpg

The interior is clean with matching tangerine highlights throughout.

18.jpg

Edward changed his setup this year to a TC Sounds Neo sub in a 4th order bandpass box. Here we can see the 4" Aero ports venting into the cabin.

19.jpg

Edward also fabricated a sweet cover for his amp with a plexiglass window to show off the innards of his US Amp

20.jpg

Here is a little behind the scenes on the ports of Edward's band pass box.

Stay tuned.

A new face that made out was Steve Mead. That's Mead without the "E".

21.jpg

Steve rolled in style with this Texas sized Silverado.

22.jpg

I was able to catch Steve's eight's in action. Those little eight's were putting out Texas sized bass thanks to the Sundown 3000 powering them. :o

Cadillac Matt made it out with a few friends.

26.jpg

Here is his Caddy in all it's glory. Soak it in fellas this might be the last we see of this legend. Matt's looking to move on. We wish him well.

BigJon's buddy Ismael was able to make it out again for this year's meet.

4.jpg

Ismael was another one of the few to get metered.

5.jpg

It's hard to imagine this stock appearing Caddy is packing this custom work in the trunk.

Another new face to join us is Vic. Him and his girlfriend made it all the way from College Station.

11.jpg

Vic's Durango is more than it seems. I dig those headlights.

12.jpg

Vic opted to replace his rear seats with a pair of Cresendo 3k amps and some Kinetic Batteries.

14.jpg

Got port area? Vic was voted the loudest at the meet. An unofficial metering session produce a whopping 149db at 38Hz.

15.jpg

Vic's running a pair of 18" BTLs with RE Audio re-cones. Many complained of headaches after demo-ing Vic's system. :P

This is BigJon's new to him Navigator

7.jpg

This is the business end of his setup.

8.jpg

Here is where the party's at. BigJon's setup is like a mullet. Business in the front, party in the back. :)

Oscar is another familiar face that made it down from Austin.

9.jpg

Here is a shot of his Voyager.

10.jpg

Oscar stepped it up this year replacing his Kicker L7's with a pair of Fi BTLs. He also added some neon lighting to his box to highlight the Austin Skyline artwork on his plexiglass cover. Nice work Oscar.

Alex was another that was able to make it out this year.

23.jpg

His innocent looking Crown Vic packs a punch.

24.jpg

Two 15" AudioQue SD 2.5 lets everyone know when he has arrived.

25.jpg

Powering his 15" is a Sundown 1200-SAEv2. The mid's and high's are handled with a Phoenix Gold Ryval amp.

Sorry I left early but I was not feeling well. My wisdom teeth are causing me all sorts of head pains.

I wonder if next time we can go out to Canyon Lake. I know an area that's pretty cool but it's $10 per car to get in. Has benches, grills, right on water, etc. Just not 100% sure if the music would be ok. I'll have to find out. Too bad the cops showed up at the bar. :\
