T1500 question...

Recommended Posts

On my T1500, I'm wondering if I should leave the Infrasonic Filter on or off. It came from the factory with it off, I can't tell much of a difference with it on. Right now I've got the frequency set at around 110. I've heard everyone say to set it around 80, and it does sound a little deeper there, but on some songs, "Late Night Tip" mainly, there are some bass notes that are left out with it at 80. With it set a little higher, I can hear everything. I've got the gain set at 5, and the Punch EQ set around half way.

Anyone think I should change anything? Just figured I would see what everyone's opinion is.

The Infrasonic filter is the same thing a subsonic filter (some would argue that infrasonic is a more correct term for it than subsonic). On the T1500 the infrasonic filter is a set frequency, 28hz according to the manual. You can't change this. If you are using a ported enclosure then yes, turn it on.

The frequency adjustment is for the lowpass filter. Set it to where ever sounds best. There's no right or wrong, though IMO if you need it set to 110hz to get the sound you want than you need better midbass speakers.

The Punch EQ is another term for bass boost. Use at your own risk as use of this knob could drive the amplifier into clipping. Remember a 3db increase requires the amplifier output twice the power. If you have it set about half way, that would be approximately 9db of boost which would require the amplifier output nearly 10x the power around the center frequency.

Yeah, I know I need more midbass. I've got the XXX components, I just haven't had time to glass them into my doors. Hopefully that will fix my midbass problem. As far as I can tell, with the Punch EQ at halfway its not clipping, and it definitely sounds better than with it off.

Pods could actually hurt your midbass. You need to seal them into the doors and give them a solid mounting surface.

A crappy 6.5 should be able to play down to 80hz pretty easily.

Good luck on you pods, post up some pics for us to enjoy! :drink40:
