2 12's ,1 15's or 1 18's

Recommended Posts

My buddy wants to know which would be the loudest set up... He is starting out with BoX/Sub first before he buys the AMP.

should he go 2 12's 1 15's or 1 18 (if he can fit it in that dimension) SUB choices BTLS, LEVEL 5's, MAYHEMS!! REMEMBER the loudest possible set up!!

We just measured his trunk and the biggest he can go is L 27" x W 32'' x H 17"

wow, so 2 12's level 5 over the Fi BTL's huh!

Also he is asking if the T4001BD is enough to power them? he might have a deal on that amp. If not, what amp you guys recommend!

With just under 7^3ft NET.. you don't have enough room for a ported 18", BARELY enough room for a ported 15", and just enough room for a optimal ported enclosure for 2 12" woofers.

T4001BD would be plenty for any of the drivers you've asked about so far. Just remember it takes power to make power. So plan on at least a 220A alternator, a larger starting battery and 1-2 D3100 type batteries.

Uuhm, make that a atleast 300amp alt, the T4000.1's are really power hogs.(they use a lot of current, they have like a 500amp fuse i think)

now for the box of 2 12's, what would be best, subs back port back (facing the trunk) or subs/port facing the seat? Also, he has a 97 bmw, just like mine except mine is a 98... since he heard my beat, he said he wants one now but louder... lol, it's all good.. im sure he will kill my shit with the choices he is going with... Also just and fyi are armrest fold down in the middle of the seat of that helps any

I would think any sub that you give almost twice its rms rating too would get loud, im pretty sure it would get loud with its rms. But loud is subjective so that is not a good comment, you may think its loud with 5000 watts and others with 1000 or 2500 watts.

I find it interesting how some people believe they know which driver will be the loudest in the OP's install based of the very little information we have to go with.

I agree. It's amusing how so many people think the Level 5 would be superior, because they think bigger is better when it comes to motors. The Level 5's have HUGE gaps, not good for cooling.

start buy telling us the car its going in and what his goals are...loudest possible isnt a very good description. also, rusty (i think thats his name) has said that the lvl 4 xl's are louder up until 2500 rms if i believe.

They aren't bad, but they're nothing special either. You need to really do your research before buying, or your friend for that matter.

The Fi BTL drivers would meet his expectations and that T4001 amp is perfect for them.

yes we are definately doing a lot of research before buying.... 1 decision he has made is to go with 2 12's... as far as with what subs, it's still up in the air.

There are ALOT of variables in what determines a vehicles SPL level.

There is NO possible way to guess.

What is your friends goal? What does he want out of his system?
